Paris Shuttle Service
I have to disagree with all the praises for Mark Harris's Paris shuttle service.

I used his old shuttle service and had no problems.
http://www.parisairportservice.com/Shuttlegb.htm

I was instructed to call a toll free phone number when we collected our bags and would be told what door the van would be meeting us. I happened to go to the ATM machine after the call and the driver was already in the door looking for me. There were a few people also in the van and no problems other than the usual morning Paris traffic from the airport.

This experience varies greatly to the Mark Harris shuttle. We called the toll free number we were given only to reach a recorded message. by chance we met other people waiting for the shuttle outside. We waited about 45 minutes more (now over an hour after arrival) and headed into the Paris traffic.

I thought I'd give the service another try and so I made a reservation for my son and his wife last week, they were going to Paris on their honeymoon. They waited about 1 hour for a van and when the driver showed up the van was full. They sent another van (another 30 minutes) and then the 2 hour ride in traffic to Paris.

Needless to say, this was Mark Harris's last chance with me. I cannot be the only one who experienced such bad service.

Are all the praises coming from Mark Harris himself? I wonder.
I signed up with Mark and it's partly my fault, I didn't follow his instructions to the "t". I called after picking up the luggage. The receptionist informed me that the driver left because he didn't find us so she told us to wait 30 min. for the driver to come by again. After 15 min. I called and another receptionist lectured me about my mistake. Needless to say my family & I were exhausted after a 12 hr. flight so we opted to go up and take a taxi which was quick and the same price Mark charged. Mark did contact me at the hotel and asked what occurred and thinking it was the driver's fault offered to drive us back to the airport upon departure. I chose the taxi again as it's more convenient.

I always give the same advice. Be smart. Start your vacation the right way, no hassels, no problems, no delays, no waiting for shuttles to show up and drop off other people, no schlepping luggage through long halls of the metro and up and down steps, door to door service. Walk outside the terminal and get on the taxi line. Don't take the drivers standing out there - very expensive. Take the taxis with "Taxi Parisien" sign on the roof. Should run you about $40 depending on traffic and amount of luggage. For more Paris information go to www.anamericaninparis.com

On our recent trip, the Shuttle service sounded like the best alternative. What a disappointment! We made the reservation, called on arrival and waited at the appropriate exit. Along with another passenger, we were kept waiting 50 minutes. Supposedly, the dispatcher didn't connect with the driver until 20 minutes after I called.

Then, the driver wasn't sure where our hotel was and took us on a tour of the city. He came close, then decided to drop off the other passenger. What a waste. Took us 2 hours to get to the hotel.

I complained in an e-mail to them, but no response. Good luck everyone - hope it was an isolated incident.

It's true what Fred says. Don't take those taxi drivers that lurk outside the arrivals hall. Go to the taxi line outside and queue up; the line goes by so fast. That line is for the metered taxis with the Taxi Parisien sign on top of their cars. Okay, so they all aren't friendly, etc. but it sure beats waiting for 30-50 mins. or more for a shuttle, any shuttle. Really after a 12+ hour flight you don't want to wait around the airport any longer than you have to.
