Question for Les Mis fans and others - has anyone ever taken the tour of the Paris sewers. My 14 year old daughter is interested. Is it at all worth it? and where is it offered. Thanks

Lew Egouts, on the left bank near Pont D'Alma, as I recall. <BR>You go down a winding staircase from a small kiosk at street level. <BR>My husband the utilities (water, power, wastewater,etc.) engineers was in 7th heaven. I was mildly interested. Our 10 and 11 year old girls raced through the tunnels and ended up at the gift shop - still underground, and with a fascinating video playing of the heroic sewer workers rescuing car keys, phone numbers on matchbooks, etc.etc. This was in January. No odor, lots of explanatory signage as you go. Don't remember how much it cost, but you might give it a try! <BR>Con

"worth it" will always depend on the viewer, how strong the literary association is for your daughter. I've been know to trek all over looking for literary sites that probably interest only me. <BR>It's been many years and I wasn't 14, but I found the sewers to be much of the same after 10 minutes, and smelly.
