Munich: Try the Hotel Uhland. Nice rooms, great breakfast, 2 blocks from a subway stop, 1/2 mile walk to center of old town and Marienplatz. Great deal, have stayed there 4 times in last 6 years. Last trip when $ was much weaker the rate for a double and breakfast was $91 per room. This is a real gem located in a quet residential area.I think they may have their own website.

Joe: In Paris, try the Hotel Sully Saint-Germain on Rue Des Ecoles. Phone: 01.43.26.56.02. It's in the 5th, Latin Quarter, just down from the Sorbonne. Nice neighborhood, restaurants and close to the Metro (two blocks to Maubert-Mutualite'). In January, it cost about $90.00 for a double, inc. breakfast. It's clean and safe. Have a good trip!

Also stayed at the Hotel Uhland. It is a gem, reasonable, clean, friendly and comfortable. In walking distance to Marienplatz and close to the train. The internet price was cheaper approx $75.00 per night with breakfast.
Enjoy

My wife and I are going to be staying in the 7th arrondisment at the Champs de Mars. We sent a fax and received a confirmation the next day. Its recommended in several books and bulletin boards. If you are interested in our experience, e-mail us after July 18. We have a double room with ammenities for FF360.
