Hi Jill! We vacationed in Paris back in June (first time) and we miss it terribly. Here are two restaurants that we tried and absolutely love. For very French and very delicious food, please try Bistrot de Montpensier. The owner, Victor Orsenne, does all the cooking and he is quite charming and friendly. The street address is 31 rue de Montpensier 75001, telephone 33-1-40-20-03-02. This restaurant is quite small, and you may want to leave a reservation. They are closed during the day, but have an answering machine with which you may make your reservation request. It is located near the Louvre on a small, dark side street. A bit difficult to locate, but more than worth the effort. My husband and I had a full four course meal, with a bottle of wine, came to about $30 per person. Excellent food and service. Another gem we discovered is Positano. I apologize that I don't have the address, but it is located in the 6th arr. Wonderful Italian food, and about the same price. Have fun and bon appetit!

Jill, I just located the address for the Italian restaurant. It is called Alfredo Positano. Here is the address: 9, rue Guisarde <BR>75006 Paris; tel: 33-1-43-26-90-52. Good luck!

A word of caution. If you are visiting Paris in Edecember there will not be much daylight. Many of the posts suggest having lunch as the main meal in place of dinner since it costs appreciably less even in the same restaurant. Do note the lunches in Paris can easily last 2 hours or more. Two hours in midday would probably use up a good portion of the 8-9 hours of daylight (on a good day) you would have to see any outdoor sights.
