Paris RER and Metro

What should I buy Paris Visite pass for Metro and RER? Will be traveling from CDG and then spend a week in Paris or Round trip RER to CDG and then a weeks Metro pass?

If you are arriving on a Monday or Tuesday and can get the week's worth out of the Carte Orange, that is probably the best value.

The Carte Orange is very convenient. If you don't plan on taking the buses and only the RER and Metro, you shouldn't have to worry about attaching a photo to it. I bought one last month by speaking in French first. It is valid until the first Sunday after you purchase it, so Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday are worth it for you if you plan on using the RER from CDG (7.50E)to the Metro. It costs 27E for the week pass.

I don't quite understand your question, it does depend on what days you will be there as to what is cost effective, and what your plans are for that week. If you don't plan any trips outside central Paris, it definitely doesn't make sense to buy a pass to cover the CDG zone. However, think you should know that you must have a photo with the Carte Orange, it isn't optional. If you don't have one, maybe you won't get caught if you only use the RER/metro, but if you do (and metro "police" do randomly stop people to check tickets, etc.), you can get fined. YOu had better fill out the info on it also.

As Christina said, you need the "Carte Orange" with pix because you have to write its number on your yellow coupon. Metro checkers can and will fine you. They don't go for the dumb American ploy unless maybe you are a petite young girl--we traveled with a tall, pretty young girl and the guy who stopped her (she had thrown away her Metro ticket), being short, fined her in his best Napoleonic way (his woman partner would have let her go since the rest of us had tickets).

A week's C.O. (Monday - Sunday) costs 13.25 Euros for Zones 1 & 2 (all you would need except for Versailles) (about the cost of a 2-day Paris Visite for zones 1-3). I read somewhere that you couldn't use a C.O. for the airport (Zone 5)(You can use Paris Visite, but it is SO much more expensive). If you use RER from the airport, just buy an extra ticket for that trip.
