>>We will then drive back to CDG and drop of the car and go into Paris for the remainder of the trip. <<

I missed this before. I would suggest that you drive from Mont St Michel to Rennes, return the car, visit (one of my "top 5" large cities in France), and then take the 1 hr 20 TGV back to the center of Paris - Montparnasse - in the Hemmingway district.

Your plan:
- Drive 4 1/2 hrs to CDG 54E in gas & toll fees
- Take taxi into Paris. About 55-60E
We got lost the last time we returned a car at CDG - about 4 years ago

My suggestion:
- Drive 1 hr 40 mins to Rennes & return car. 8E in gas & toll fees
- TGV to Montparnasse. 1 hr 20 mins. 30E per person 2nd class, 35E 1st class (if you purchase 3 months in advance). We love train travel - very relaxing. This is a brand new TGV that was introduced this year between Paris & Rennes. Advertising looks quite nice. We're doing this next year.

You really should be thinking in terms of EUROS, instead of DOLLARS...

The Latin Quarter is "profoundly boring" for a college graduate?? I don't agree. It's an area full of twenty-somethings.

The official website says "March 22, 2018 to 13 May, 2018" for the tulips.

The official site is probably referring to tulips inside the gardens itself that are timed somehow to have some always on show- not the miles of tulip fields surrounding the gardens which can vary as to their peak but usually well over by May.

We are looking at 3 or 4 full days in Normandy. We are planning one day for Mt. St. Michel. We are WWII buffs and are looking to spend the rest of the time going on tours. We are looking for small or private tours. Has anyone taken the Overlord Tours? If so, what tours did you take and do you recommend that tour?

Thanks.

Kathy

For the tours question you may want to make a separate post with that in heading - as threads get older less folks open them to find buried questions.

For a full listing of such tours from Bayeux check the Bayeux Tourist Office web site.
