Paris Museum Pass Question

I will buy my pass at one of the smaller museums when I get to Paris, but do I just stand on the general admission line to do so, or is there a separate "window" for the museum pass? Thanks.

I've never seen a separate window for buying museum passes - you just stand in the regular admission line. At most times of year, it's far quicker to pick up a pass in the métro.

As StCirq says - waiting in line at a museum to buy the pass defeats the whole purpose. I always buy my pass at CDG if I am flying in, or at Waterloo or Gare du Nord if arriving by train. Otherwise they are available at most metro stations.

Just to add a bit clarification (we were just in Paris and had to struggle through this):
The museum pass is purchased at metro stations, and allows you access to almost all Paris museums for the day(s)you purchase the pass, and allows you to bypass the line.
If you will only visit one museum, it is cheaper, but slower, to just stand in the normal entrance line.
By the way, museums do not post a separate line for pass-holders, you just have to go up and ask the guard and show him your pass. We were able to then cut the line.
We purchased ours last week at Arc d'Triomph as we have in the past. We have never found more than 2 or 3 people in the line.

Thanks for your answers. I will be arriving in Paris by TGV from Nice. So can I buy the pass at the train station I arrive at? Also, does the pass "start running" the day of purchase, or can I specify the date I want it to start. Thanks, Fran
