Roberta,
Good to read your report and thank you for the poersonal e-mail, too.
Yes, it was fun when you stopped by the apt. and then later, much later, to get together at Cafe Max. My airport driver was a few hours from picking me up! Glad you used the service, too. I don't think there is better private service..the price to me for last trip was only 40e!! Remember my elevator? I had to struggle to get suitcases in and me, too!!
Next trip you need to spend some time in the St. Dominique/Bourdonnais/Rapp area. Dine at all, or any of the Constant restaurants, Cafe Constant, Les Cocottes, Violon d'Ingres and Fables de la Fontaine. Stay at the same hotel..same rooms, of course.
A fun time..stay in touch...
a bientot...

Ningenfel -Not sure about the ice cream price. I am sorry I missed having one during my trip!
Mahya - The autumn wine festival wasn't at the Eiffel Tower. It was in Monmartre at Sacre Couer (although we had our own little wine/food feast by the tower!). The festival is called the "Fete des Vendanges de Monmartre" and it usually takes place the 2nd weekend of October. Two years ago, we just happened to visit Sacre Couer the same weekend. We thought it was a giant outdoor market that took place every Saturday and told a relative to go there the following month. Much to her surprise (and ours) there was nothing going on. That's when I researched it and found out it was an annual event!
I forgot to mention we went to Reims(Champagne region) for the day and it was really pretty. It was so easy to get to (45 minute train ride from Paris). There is a nice town center with dozens of cafes & shops. Then we hopped on a short bus ride (15 minutes) and went to the wine cellars of Veuve Clicquot. Very interesting and the tastings were enjoyable, of course. So much, that we enjoyed a bottle of their reserve later that night!
The only negative part of the trip: my aching feet!

Hello all!
I promised some pictures of our view from the Hotel Duquesne Eiffel. All of them were taken from our balcony. If you enlarge the one of Invalides, you can see Sacre Couer in the distance.

Thanks, Roberta, for the pics from your hotel. Those are good rooms, and the hotel is in a good location.
Now you have to figure out how to get the other pics online.
a bientot....

Roberta, I also looked at the views from your hotel room. GraceJoan told me about your wonderful trip and visit to her apartment on Champs de Mars and of course, your great time at Cafe Max. Would be nice to meet up with the group at a future time in Paris.
Looking forward to see more of your photo album.

Gracejoan and Maya I am so sorry I missed the GTG in Paris. I haven't visited the Fodor's Europe site in a long time and now I'm sorry. I too was in Paris during the Paris GTG. How much fun it would have been to connect with fellow Fodorites.
Have any pictures from that event been posted on Fodor's?
I am ready to go back. There are so many other countries to visit but I always go back to Paris. Gracejoan how lucky you are to spend 2 months a year in Paris. I also have cats and how hard it must be for you to be apart from them for such a long time.

There is a separate thread for the Paris GTG and Gina also posted some pictures.
Re my cats. I could not leave them if they were some place in tiny cages! They actually go on vacation when I am gone. A wonderful place called Just Cats. A huge room with places waist high up all around the room to high ceilings with windows etc for them to look out..my two have adjoining spots with a door for them to pass thru. The room is furnished with a sofa etc. My two cats are let out into this room for several hours a day. This building is also surrounded by screening like a pool screening and has grass etc. for cats that like the outdoors. I do not worry or feel guilty with them in this facility.
You must make your reservations way early. I have my reservations for next spring for them.

With the way our portfolios have dropped, I could use the extra income!! Sorry about that.
Stay in a Paris Perfect once, and you will join the crowd in praising them....

Paris Perfect is hardly a secret. Patricia Wells recommends it on her website.
Just curious. Do you happen to own/have an interest in this apartment that you consistently rave about?
