Thanks again everyone for your thoughtful advice. We have made revisions and I think are pleased with our plan. A couple of random questions.
I see that there is big fireworks display on June 24 which will be our arrival day. We'll be quite tired I'm sure. Is staying up to see the display worth the trouble or is it better just to get a good nights sleep?

On June 28 it looks like there is a giant gay pride parade. We have the Louvre and Montmartre scheduled for that day. How might the parade affect that? Should we reschedule and/or perhaps work the parade itself into our plans?

We are going to visit the Pere Lachaise cemetery. Besides visiting some famous gravesites my wife wants to go to the summit...apparently there is a great view of Paris from there. Trying to plan our route through the cemetery to minimize walking. This might sound like a silly question and it may be so obvious, but can someone tell me where the high point is?

You'll do plenty of walking in Pere Lachaise; I don't think there's any way to minimize the walking as it's 119 acres.

I think the high point should become very apparent as the cemetery is built on a hill. Just keep walking up. I never noticed the view as I was too busy looking at the tombstones.

If you're trying to minimize walking, why are you walking to the cemetery? Is your hotel that close to it?

We are staying about a kilometer from the cemetery. If we were just going to do the cemetery that day I wouldn't be too worried about the walking but we were planning to go there in the morning with the Eiffel tower area in the afternoon.
