That link did not come through, because a smiley face is being inserted where it should say "portail colon paris" with the punctuation mark and no spaces. How could I get rid of the smiley face?

sounds like a problem for the Fodors programmers - to drop the smileys for some grown-up references.

I don't think it's necessary to drop the smileys - just include some character in each one that can't appear in a URL.
