Paris in July - Do I need A/C??

Hi,
I'll be in Paris for a week in July and I'm looking for a reasonably priced hotel with air-conditioning (max 90 euros, and since I'll be on my own that's pushing it). I'd prefer the 4th-7th arrondissements - any suggestions? Has anyone stayed in Paris in July without A/C? Was it bearable?

Also, does anyone know where I can find photos of the rooms at Hotel Bonaparte? (any comments on this hotel?)They have a "very small" single with A/C for 84euros.

I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Hottie - I too will be in Paris with my family July 12-22, coincidentally at the Hotel Bonaparte. Have not stayed there before but pictures abound at their own site (check google) and comes highly recommended by several knowledgeable people I have talked to. Location can't be beat.
Charlene

I stayed at Hotel Bonaparte in Feb of 2001 so I don't know how good the a/c is, but I know they have it. I was in room 29 on the top floor, which is small but very sweet with a stone wall, beamed ceilings and a small bathroom. The hotel staff is wonderful and I highly recommend it!

Usually the lack of A/C is not a problem, but I happened to luck into a heat wave a few years ago and our hotel (De Weha, tiny but cute) was on a route for a hospital.
Ambulance sirens all night.....I've looked for A/C ever since.

There are three hotels at this website that fit your criteria, price and A/C:
http://digital.france.com/hotels/2starparis.ihtml

They are Le Clement, Hotel du Palais Bourbon and Hotel de Lille.

Not on this site, but I'm sure you can find it elsewhere - Le Muguet.

You might be fine without A/C but you never know. I wouldn't mind a small room so much but I'd want the A/C just in case. Good luck!

I've stayed in Paris about 5 times in July without A/C. Yes, it was bearable as I kept doing it. However, I have seen comments by others on here who want AC in May and Oct and complain when it hits 75 degrees (I'm not kidding, I saw a post once about that) without AC. Depends on you -- I don't care that much and don't like A/C very well, I prefer fresh air. However, if it got over 90, I'd probably want it, also. It's just a risk based on the odds the weather will get that hot and how important that is to you. It doesn't usually, but it can.

Agree with earlier poster about noise from street when you leave the windows up. Better to have the AC just in case.

Another vote for air conditioning. I was in Paris during a heat wave last July in a hotel without it, and will never do that again.

Hello All,

Charlene, I've done multiple google searches and still cannot find Hotel Bonaparte's site. (What am I doing wrong?) You don't by any chance remember the address do you?

Thanks, hottie.

Hottie, There is no website for Hotel Bonaparte. To make a reservation, just call or fax and they will help you right away. Mme Dumas and her staff are wonderful and will take good care of you. Phone # is 01 42 26 00 19 and fax is 01 40 46 83 63. Have a wonderful trip!
