This really is pathetic. The climate will be ok so long as you don't turn up in beachwear.
A nice warm coat & mittens and a gag so I don't hear your silly shingeing American accent complaining about the cold as I sip ice cold beers in my shorts while dipping my toes in the seine & thinking about taking a swim.
Are all Americans this weak?

Last weekend, we enjoyed sunny days in the 40sF, moonlit nights and crisp mornings. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to miss it. Compensations for traveling in the off-season include not much in the way of crowds, low airfares and often great rates at hotels, too. Of course, everything you have to eat or drink will be just as good as ever! So if you're crazy, count me in.

Define "shingeing," if you would, Dijon. If we knew, perhaps we could go forth and shinge no more.

We've been to Paris twice in February. The first time we experienced cold and windy weather days as well as warm springlike weather. The second time it snowed and was cold the whole time. But who cares! It's Paris and where else would you want to be in February? Of course if you don't like the cold then you would probably prefer a beach vacation, but I love to travel off season. I don't like huge crowds, but I do like city vacations, so February is good. The airfare is another good reason to travel in February, as well as the lodging costs. We like to rent apartments and most have low season rates. Go prepared; wear gloves, scarves, and layer.

Who cares what the weather is - would you rather be at home in the gloom or in a fantastic place in the gloom . It will make a downer time seem special. It's just 4-5 days - have fun! The Parisians live there all the time, why shouldn't we try it on for size when the tourist count is low. It's an opportunity to see haw the other part really lives. BTW, my husband and I are going to Amsterdam for the Feb 9-13 weekend - just neeed a break.

To echo AnthonyGA's comments I think too many North Americans make western Europe colder in winter than it is. Paris may be at the latitude of Canada, but winters won't be as cold in W. Europe than at the same latitude on the American continent (with the exception of the Pacific coast in the northwestern US and western Canada, whose climale is not unlike that of W. Europe).

In Europe, average winter temperatures are determined not by latitude but by distance from the ocean. Hence the palms and mimosas which grace gardens in Britains's Cornwall or on the coast of Brittany, at the latitude of Newfoundland.

That's why Paris winters will statistically be milder than those of the more southern, but further inland city of Lyon. Further south, the landlocked, northern Italian province of Lombardy has cold, foggy continental winters, with, again, lower average temperatures than Paris.

To go back to the core of the matter, February is not a bad time to visit Paris.

We went to Paris a few years back in the beginning of March. We got a great deal - Everything for $950. The weather was cold and wet but overall we had a wonderful time. I would do it all over again.

Since I live where "spring" varies from year to year, I'm interested in what month people consider spring in Paris? February sounds fairly mild for those of us used to really cold climates. I agree with others that anytime in Paris is a great time!!!

I just came back from Paris & while the weather was definitely winter I was never uncomfortable - even on the day it rained. The outdoor cafes put up plastic shelters & heaters. We walked quite a lot. The winter weather is unpredictable but in April your're going to definitely get a lot of rain. Check out a weather web site for Paris. http://www.weather.com/outlook/trave...local/FRXX0076

My thought is, you'd be crazy not to go to Paris any time you can! Instead of sipping a citron pressé at a sidewalk café, you can be savoring rich chocolat chaud in the golden glow of a Belle Epoque tea salon. Winter has its charms.

Spring in Paris varies considerably in the time when it actually arrives, from a weather standpoint. Sometimes it's still chilly in late April; at other times, it's spring-like by the end of February. You just never know in advance.

However, if you are in Paris when spring weather arrives, you'll understand why Paris in the spring is so famous.

The general trend over the past decade has been a significant rise in temperatures, which tends to move spring to earlier times in the year.
