Paris in December

How cold is it in Paris is end of December to beginning of January? I live in Southern California and I want to be prepare for the cold. I'm also deciding what kind of jacket/coat I will need to take with me.

It will be cold. Bring a coat, hat, gloves, scarf. It may not snow, but there is a good chance of rain. The temperature is usually in the 30s and 40s.

Prepare for cold weather! And ALWAYS bring an umbrella! Your best bet is to layer -- there always seems to be a strong breeze in Paris, and almost each cafe has a drafty spot. And when you're all bundled up, you can sit outside and enjoy your cafe creme like a local (under the heater) peeling off layers as you get warm.

And invest in one of those big scarves when you get there -- they're wonderful for wrapping around your shoulders when you take your coat off and surprisingly warm (I bought mine at Naf Naf).

As always, unpredictable and changeable. Could be sunny, mild, cold, cloudy, nasty, very cold, windy, rainy. So be prepared with layers to put on or take off, umbrellas, and you'll be fine. For more Paris information e-mail me – [email protected]
