Paris Hotels

Any recommendations for value (up to $100us/night) on the left bank. Clean and quiet with character. Leaving mid Sept.

Don't even think about cutting and pasting your guidebook here, Margo from Hello Europe!

Hello Ken,

I really enjoyed Grand Hotel des Balcons near the Odeon Metro last May. My Mother and traveled together and enjoyed the hotel (about $85/night). It's in a very good location, just a few minutes from the metro and not too far from the Left Bank sights. The place was clean and comfortable. Ask for a room facing the street (not too noisy in the evenings) as the rooms are a little bigger than on the backside. The hotel information is at my travel page at http://sites.netscape.net/monicapileggi/travel. There are lots of restaurants nearby that are reasonably priced. Have a great time!

I will be staying at The Grand Hotel des Balcons in the 6th, in a few weeks. I'll let everyone know how it is when I return. I've done a lot of research and it seems to be the best for the money, plus has character and charm! A large buffet breakfast is served for 55FF. We have the nice rooms facing the street.

You can see the many praises on www.paris.org and their website is at www.parishotels.com. Also, I think there's something at www.parisdigest.com

Monica's travel page is great so be sure to check it out. She is one of the reasons that I picked this hotel!

.

I've stayed at this place 3 times and really like it. It's about $85 per night for a double with bathroom.
Hotel St. Jacques
35, Rue des Ecoles
phone +33-1-44-07-45-45
fax +33-1-43-35-65-50
It's close to the Maubert Mutualite metro stop in the 5th arr. I think it's a great deal for the price in Paris.

Thanks Dianne for the compliment! I happened to read this posting because I’m considering going to Paris ALONE in the Oct/Nov timeframe (first time alone). I was very pleased with the hotel and that’s where I want to stay when I return. Let me know how you liked it! Have a great trip!
