Paris Hotels
There are 3 adults traveling to Paris in Oct. I have been checking some websites and found some hotels that seem to be nice does anyone have information on the following hotels.
Montpensier rate for 3 adults 580FF.
Hotel Bourbon Du Palais 672FF inc breakfast.
Derby Eiffell 750FF.
I was also interested in the Champ de Mars but I heard the rooms were small.
The Louvre Forum sounds nice also.
I am mostly interested in the 1st 7th or 8th Arrondissements.
Rates between 550FF-800FF.
Thanks

Kathleen - I'm staying in August at the Castex Hotel, 5 rue Castex, 75004, Paris and at the Belloy St-Germain, 2 rue Racine, 75006. I have dealt with a particular travel agency in New York/Paris for all my reservations, and I've checked out the French yellow pages on line for good info. Anything Fodor's puts a star by is a good reference, in my experience. If you want, the phone for the travel agency I've used is 1-800-868-0608. It's called New Frontiers, or Nouvelle Frontieres. They are extremely helpful, will send info by fax, and will do all the booking for zip cost to you. I booked my last trip to france with them and was very pleased with all their recommendations. jennifer

I've stayed at the Angleterre and love both the hotel and location (bordering the 6/7th). Their prices are slightly higher that you've stated, but in October they may be within your range. I think you should check them out anyway. The best way to contact them is by phone or fax. You can find the contact info in Michelin or Gault Millau.

The place I always stay at in Paris is Hotel Le Clement. Its in 6e and is next to the best shops, Jardin Luxemburg (the most beautiful park in the world!), Norte Dame, left bank, and is the quaintest French hotel around. There are only about 31 rooms to the place and the rooms can be small (but then I have yet to get a large room in europe anywhere!) Plus its only about 700FF per night for a double. It sits on a little narrow street overlooking the park, was just renovated a few years ago, and is right next to a Metro stop. Its my best kept secret of Paris! The tele is 43-46-53-60 Enjoy!

Further down on the bulletin board is a message all about Hotel du Champ de Mars. Haven't stayed there but sounds like a nice location with affordable restaurants nearby. Also, check out Hotel des Grandes Ecoles (in the Latin Qtr.) which has a garden where breakfast is sometimes served--it has gotten good reviews for nice accomodations at a reasonable price. Will check them out personally soon.

FYI, October is one of the busiest months in
Paris and it is difficult to find a hotel room so
book as early as possible; hotel rates are not
cheaper in October, it is consider their high
season and rates will usually be higher than
in the summer -- July and August are the low
rate months in Paris. Paris is a very busy
international and national business city and
there are many trade shows, conventions, etc.
in October.
