Paris - Hotel near Cité Universitaire, help needed! How about hotel Acropole?
So we are driving my sister from Belgium to Paris, where she will start her 1 year student exchange program. She has a room at the Cité Universitaire (RER B) in the 14th arrondissement. We'd like to have a nice hotel nearby for one night, one that has triple rooms preferably.
I checked www.venere.com, which is usually quite good, but the only place which seems more or less ok closeby is Hotel Acropole at the Porte d'Orleans. Does anybody have any experiences with this hotel?
Can anybody recommend a nice hotel (around 150€, max 200€ a night) around Cité Universitaire, Darfour or Porte d'Orleans metro/RER stops? Perhaps one which is hard to find through the usual booking sites? Thanks a lot.

There are Mercure and Ibis I think Novotel hotels in that area, probably for rather less than you are quoting: http://www.accorhotels.com

We stayed by the Metro stop Mouton Duvernet (one block south of Denfert Rochereau) last April. Our hotel was Hotel Sophie Germain, but I do not think they have triples.
Their double rates are reasonable, however. It is nothing fancy, but is quiet and clean.
Use website: http://hotels.parishotels.com/hotel-...23&lang=en
or book via email directly with the hotel: [email protected]
On the same block is a hotel marketed by Best Western that gets quite a few favorable comments on Tripadvisor, and it does offer triples: Hotel Nouvel Orleans Here is the website.

Both of these are in a quite nice area, residential but with cafes, shops and gardens nearby. Don't miss rue Daguerre's market street. Line 4 metro service will whisk you to the center of Paris or toward the universite (stop Porte d'Orleans). The RER stop at Denfert Rochereau goes to the universite as well.
The Hotel du Parc Montsouris is next to the Parc Monceau, by the universite - I do not have personal knowledge of it but it has connecting room (doubles) for 96E.

Well, now that Stardust is settled in, I wonder if anyone knows about another hotel by metro Porte d'Orleans called Hotel Virgina? It's a two-star and looks very nice on its website. Couldn't find any internet comments about it. Yes, it is located on the fringe of the 14th.

Since I mentioned the Hotel Virgina above, I thought I'd add this comment:
I went inside the Hotel Virgina when we were in Paris in October (204)... we found the Porte d'Orleans metro and walked on rue Pere Corentin to the hotel. I didn't like this route because the bus terminal is there and the street was kind of dirty/trashy. The hotel itself was nice enough in the lobby and breakfast room areas, although a big dog lying on the rug near the entry barked at me when I came in and went out. The lady at the desk was very nice and showed me the breakfast room (which really I could see as it was just off the lobby), and said she couldn't show me any rooms b/c the hotel was fully booked. I recall passing a small Franprix between the metro and the hotel. I might not have been as put off by the 'feel' if we had walked up ave du Gen Leclerc then swung around to the hotel. It's a longer walk to come from metro Alesia. So... it's probably not staying on my 'short list'...
