Paris Hotel Ideas...would love help!

My husband and I are traveling to france in Sept. and will be staying in Paris for 3 nights before heading for the Loire valley. We've found the website TABLET HOTELS.com for chic, boutique hotels and are very impressed by two: Hotel Montalembert and Pershing Hall. Anyone have any input on these or others? We are open to all suggestions and would like to stay under 400euros. Thanks in advance!

I haven't stayed there, but the Montalembert has a very chi-chi reputation, supermodels, fashionistas, etc. It's in the 7th, but near St Germain. It's get only great comments at www.tripadvisor.com

A cheaper alternative to the Montalembert and owned/run by the same organization, AND right next door is the Hotel Pont Royal which also gets good reviews on TripAdvisor.

elaine, thanks for the response. Are you by any chance the elaine that had such a tremendous venice file about 3 years ago?

Hello Darnold: We stayed at the Hotel Pont Royal on rue Montalembert this past November. The concierge is Pierre Tieng and his staff is fantastic. We will go back. Good Luck. Gradyghost

There are wonderful hotels in Paris that are considerably under 400Euro! What is your criteria for a "wonderful" hotel?

i'd like to suggest you 2 very good hotels near the C-E and 1 near the Opera Garnier.:

1.Hotel Raphael-a member of the leading small hotels of the world- a trully luxury establishment located 8min from the C-E and 1 block from the AdT, good restaurant ,famous bar, with very big rooms and an atmosphere of a bygone era. but it is a bit pricey(370euros for a classic room)
www.raphael-hotel.com and www.lhw.com/raphael
2.Le Faubourg Sofitel Demeure Hotels
a modern, chic, upscale hotel, with good restaurant, between the Madeleine Church and Place Concorde-classic rooms at 240euros but on the small size- www.sofitel.com
3.Hotel Scribe Opposite the grand Hotel IC and 1.5 block from the place vendome it's a well run 4L establishment with 2 restaurants, 1 bar , spacious rooms with new bathrooms, classic rooms at 200euros i think. www.sofitel.com
For further infos do not hesitate to ask me!

please note that this last poster has a commercial or employment interest in the hotels mentioned, the identical posting has appeared before.

?????I'm not quite sure I get the "connection" between posting prior to this and a "commercial or employemt interest."

Am I missing something?

Hi elaine,

A repeat post isn't always indicative of advertising.

I have no connection to the Hotel Bonaparte, but have often recommended it.

We like the Pavillion de la Reine on the Place de Vosges. I think their suites may be within or nearly within your budget.

I considered Pershing Hall for my last trip, but ended up choosing the Lancaster; I think rates were better. The Lancaster is lovely; very chic, friendly staff, and the rooms we had were great, quiet, overlooking the courtyard (where you could eat outside if the weather is good in September).

The hotel Montelambert has to be much more than your budget; I have stayed at the Pont Royal and although the rooms are teensy, it's a lovely hotel with an excellent concierge. He arranged private tours for us as well as restaurant reservations.

Look into the Rue Cler neighborhood. It's a pedestrian-only area between the Eifel and Invalides. Ecole Militaire is the Metro stop. It has lots of 2-star hotels prices well under 100 euros.

Darnold- I would suggest two hotels that my wife and I have used and found very nice"
1) Le Sainte Beuve
2) Pas des Calais

Both have web sites. We have stayed at the Pas des Calais twice. It is right off blvd. St. Germaine and close to Metro and many nice shops and restaurants. Check them out.
