Paris hates me...but I love her so!
I was scheduled to leave for Paris tomorrow evening for eight nights with my mother. We had to cancel...all that planning (thanks everyone for your help). But this is not the first time I had to cancel. I broke my leg in 1999, one month before leaving for Paris and we decided to postpone until March 2000. The night before we were to leave and I was making sure the tickets and passports were in order, I could not find my husband's passport. We tore the house upside down looking for it... we even drove to my office in NYC thinking I had it in an overnight bag I brought into the city. The thing was I had packed it the night before and had both passports in my hand. Of course I was up all night looking for it and my husband said we'll go next March... NEXT MARCH???!!! Is he kidding? he said to cancel everything!!! I spoke to the airlines and the man said don't cancel maybe it will turn up... I could kiss him because I found it 4:30 AM under the nightstand, where it must have fallen. We ended up going and had a great time (although my face was puffing from crying and I had red eyes and all). Now another cancellation... I really have bad luck with Paris....

Patty, that is such sad news. Is it a cancel or a postponement.

You have to do something to break the evil spell. Try circling 20 times counterclockwise (once for each arrondisement), say 20 I-Love-Parises (and a couple of I-Love-Jerry-Lewises just in case), and finish with a nice glass (or 3) of French wine.

I am so sorry you have to cancel. I hope you reschedule soon. I also had to cancel a Paris trip because I broke my foot about a month before my trip. I was in the cubicle in the emergency room sobbing and the nurse came to check on my "pain". I had to admit to her I was crying because my trip to Paris would have to be cancelled and not because my foot hurt that much. Very embarrasing. I cancelled the trip for Sept. and that very November British Airways had one of its $99 each way sales to London and my husband and I both went for the price of my one ticket that was scheduled before. We had a wonderfule trip together with one week in Paris and a week in London.

Patty, a quick divorce and a move to Paris are the only practical solution. How can you bear being married to a monster who has repeatedly kept you from your true love? Ditch him, you'll be happier solo in the city you love.

(This message written only half in jest.)

Patty

Really sorry to hear your news.

I was upset enough when I had to cancel a trip to Munich because I had a really nasty but shortlived Virus in November last year. I was starting to come out of it but husband was a day behind.
We lost the tickets (Go is non refundable and wouldn't even give me credits or anything) but we were intending to stay with a friend so at least we didn't lose more.
But we were disappointed.

Really really sorry about your news.
Hope you can reschedule the trip soon.

Kavey

Patty, this probably won't make you feel any better, but I have to say I've never had a really great time in Paris. (Gasp!) I'm not sure why. I've only been twice, but was not over-impressed either time. It always seems so hectic, grimy, and crowded. My two favorite things: attending the ballet at Palais Garnier and Montmartre.
