Yes, we'd like to take a hands on class.

Patty, which day were you thinking of? We would like to go to Versailles this trip and were planning on Tuesday. Boy, this week in Paris is totally booked up already!!

Any ideas of a place for the GTG?

I'm open to which day. Looks like Tuesday is the only full day we overlap?

Are you guys thinking of a GTG dinner or something else? Again we're totally open to whatever venue/location/etc.

Hi Patty,

The evening of Monday 12th March is already fixed for the night of the GTG as being the only night that all the original participants could manage. everyone else is welcome, and/or to organise their own additional event/s of course.

no venue for the 12th yet though.

Sorry, I should've been more specific. The "open to which day" part was in reference to the boulangerie class.

I knew the 12th was the only night available for the GTG.

That's OK Patty - i was just making it clear for anyone that might pick up this thread later on.

I think we'll have to miss the baking, though depending on the weather, the Omnivore might be an option for the monday.

mondays are so difficult in Paris. it was pure greed that caused me to extend our trip for another day. perhaps we ought to start a "things to do in Paris on a Monday" thread.

Patty, spoke to my husband and we are game for the boulangerie. Do you want to do a separate thread for it to see if we can get a few more people or to see if anyone else has done it?

Still wondering where this GTG will be...

Previous GTGs in Paris I've participated in have been at Café Flore (not a favorite of mine, but a classic and easy to seat a lot of people) and Les Editeurs, which I like a lot. Just throwing that out. We're trying to nail down our dates so we can be sure to be there!

Depends where we're going, but probably a few days out will do if we're not talking Michelin stars.

Great, AGM. I'll email Benjamin to make sure he's available then start a separate thread.

I like Les Editeuers also.
it's almost across from the Relais where you will be staying after the Dordogne.

Dunno, annhig. I hardly ever do Michelin stars myself. I think we should just pick a place that's relatively easy for us all to get to. I know Paris like the back of my hand, so it makes no difference to me. We've had a couple of great GTGs at Les Editeurs, and it's right at Odéon in the 6ème and always seemed to be close to where a lot of people were staying.

But really, SO and I are game for anything, so if anyone has a serious preference, go for it.

Les Editeurs seems like it would be a good place for a bunch of us to get together. It would be a place where we can sit and chat for a while. We have also been to a GTG at the Hotel Luctetia on BLVD Raspail which was nice.

Thanks, annhig. Just emailed you.

Les Editeurs has worked well for GTGs in the past. I do know the Hôtel Lutetia as well, though. And then there's always the vast expanses of the Hôtel Intercontinental at Place d'Opéra, but even tea there is insanely pricey. My vote goes to Les Editeurs.

I bow to your greater experience. Do you think we need to talk to Les Editeur in advance?

Does this mean we are no longer considering the restaurants we have been floating ideas about in our e-mails?

I don't know about the other restaurants being floated about in emails, so will defer to you all. In any case, Les Editeurs wouldn't need to know about our presence until a day or two before.
