Paris GTG late May/early June

Hi all,
My husband & I will be in Paris May 28 thru June 3 and would enjoy meeting other Fodorites. Any interest for lunch, drinks, or dinner? EJ

I will be there for a few days you're there (the beginning of your trip). Friday the 29th I'm going to the ballet, but otherwise I haven't made firm plans. I'm attending my first GTG earlier that week, so assuming it's not horrid I'd be up for another.

Leely,
It would be great to meet. If I'm not mistaken, jenblase and flygirl will be in Paris at this time. Hopefully they'll be interested and available as well. This would be my first GTG.

Anyone else?? This has been an anemic response so far, as we just have several "maybes" right now. Looks like we may be one week too late, as there's a large GTG scheduled for 5/23. I do hope we can put something together. EJ

Hi Elsiejune,
Where are you folks staying in Paris?
During the day it is difficult to make a lunch date but dinner may be on the cards. Where are you thinking of having the GTG if it's dinner? Our problem is the 29th is out last night in Paris and we want to have a meal in the Bistro des Dames, attached to our hotel, The Eldorado, either on 28th or our last night. Unfortunately it seems that even if you are a guest there are 'No reservations'!http://www.eldoradohotel.fr/EHBDupF1.html

I will keep checking on your post to see what is planned and if we can possibly GTG.

Tod,
We'll be staying in the 7th in the Rapp/Bourdonnais area, but are happy to dine anywhere. Please do keep checking this post as plans develop. EJ

EJ, I also will follow this thread. You can reach me at leelyagain AT gmail DOT com.

If dinner does not pan out, perhaps drinks somewhere (somewhere decadent?). In any case, I am sure we will all enjoy Paris!

elsiejune - I will certainly do that. We leave for Ireland on 8th May and will not be travelling with a laptop (so far)but I'm thinking about those wet, windy Irish nights when all I would want to do is check in with my Fodorite family!! I suppose the next best thing is try and find an internet cafe in some town - (We have hired a motorhome otherwise would use hotels internet).
I will however be seeing Leely2 at the GTG on 23rd so will see if she can give me some info of where and when you may have settled the GTG.
Would it be too cheeky to telephone the venue and ask them to include us - if there is space? (Only because I won't be able to connect with you).
Around your area are some good places to dine - Just click on Gracejoan's name and you can check them out. I've forgotten the one in Rue Montessuy but it has been mentioned on this board several times.
We can meet anywhere also.

Hi tod,
You're probably thinking of Au Bon Accueil on rue Montessuy. It's one of the restaurants we're planning to try this trip, and you're right there are quite a few good places in this area of the 7th. I'm hoping we'll be able to cobble together a GTG while we're in Paris. So far we don't have anyone who is willing to commit to a date, much less a venue, which of course you're most welcome to phone. Hopefully Leely will have some positive details for you by the 23rd. DH & I ususally bring a laptop, so I'll be able to be in touch. Have a wonderful trip, EJ

We're now one month out. Is anyone interested in making plans for a Paris GTG?

Dear Elsijune,

I'm booked for the May 23 GTG and looking forward to it very much. I'd love to meet you too, but absolutely the only nights I could do dinner would be Sunday the 31 or Monday the 1st. As those are Pentecost and WhitMonday, I'm not sure what would be available, but if it can be worked out ... I'm staying in the 6th, if that helps.

Dear EJ,
I'm going to be in Paris most of the month of May and would be interested in a GTG if you get something set up!

Hi

I will have to play it by ear. We only have a limited time in Paris and in fact one day (TBD) may be going to Reims. If you decide on a location we can keep it in mind and let you know once on the ground if it will work. Sounds like you are getting a good crew, you will have fun!

Hi Friends,
Right now it looks like Saturday, May 30th is the best date. Does that work for you, Melissa? I haven't heard back from Jenblase. Hope more people will be available to join.
Sandyh: DH & I have guests planned for Sun. & Mon. However, this is a group that often cancels well in advance. If so, we'd be happy to GTG one of those nights too; just leave contact details.

elsiejune, I have a reservation that night (the 30th). If you'd like, you can email me at leelyagain AT gmail DOT com. Perhaps as the group comes together we can do aperitifs or if you are amenable to my chosen restaurant...?

I wouldn't normally make dinner reservations so far in advance, but this is my first solo trip to Paris and I wanted to make sure I don't get timid and end up holed up in my apartment my final evening.

Yes, May 30th is good!

Leely2 - When are you going to be in Paris? I'm also going solo for a part of my trip so maybe we can meet for dinner one night when we're both solo and looking for English conversation?

Melissa, I'll be in Paris the last week in May. Feel free to email me at the address I gave elsiejune above. I like traveling solo but, yes, sometimes I crave conversation in English. Especially because I don't speak French.
