Hotel Ibis should meet your requirements- check out their site atwww.hotelibis.com where you can also make reservations. there are lots of locations throughout Paris (actually, all over Europe and beyond). We like the Ibis Bastille or Ibis Republique locations. Accommodations are basic but absolutely clean and comfortable, staff friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet is good.

Although we've stayed at quite a few Ibis hotels in Europe, there seem to be a lot of small hotels in Paris that you can stay at for about the same price that have a little more charm. We liked Hotel Muguet which I believe we spent around $80 per night for. It has a nice location-quiet, close to the metro and the rooms are nice although the smaller doubles had small bathrooms.

But if you want to save a little money, Savabuck's assessment of Ibis is accurate-clean, comfortable, usually well located near the city center.

Rose,

I just got back from a trip to Paris and stayed at the Hotel des Arenes in the 5th (Latin) on Rue Monge. It is a 3 star hotel and our room was decent size (twin room) with a bathroom with tub & shower, mini bar, hair dryer and a large closet. Our cost was only 72.00 Euro's a night and with the current conversion rate that's only about $64.00. It has metro stops close by and we actually walked to the Eiffel Tower, Louver, Notre Dame, Luxembourg Gardens, and all kinds of other places.

You might also try one of the Libertel hotels, part of a reasonably-priced French chain that can be reserved on the web through www.libertel.com or www.mercure.com. My favorite is the Libertel on Rue Bellechasse, which is a stone's throw from the Seine and the Musee d'Orsay, and an easy walk to the Louvre.

Try these sites:

www.hotel-assist.com
www.hotel-booker.com
www.hoteldiscounts.com

You can sort through the hotels by price or rating (stars). If you book hotels through these sites, you usually get super discounted rates compared to bookeing directly in the webiste of a certain hotel. There are a lot of promotional rates but be sure to check if taxes and service are included (although these are usually minimal) and whether the rooms have private shower/bath and toilet, if you're picky.

Hotel booker guarantees that their rates are the lowest and i think they will give you a refund or something if you find a cheaper hotel elsewhere in the internet. From my experience, I'd recommend hotel booker. there are some paris hotels at $49 - 58 per double room inclusive of service (plus breakfast, tax, and private bath/shower in some - depending on the promotional package). I found some that belong to the COMFORT INN line of hotels, which is pretty respectable.

Good luck!

No brainer!

Hotel Grande Leveque. Located on Rue Cler near the Hotel Invalides and Metro stop Militaire Ecole...it is a winner for location, neighborhood atmosphere, clean rooms with modern facilities. Ask for a room off the street if you really desire quiet as the street vendors start displaying their wares early.

Like staying in a local Paris neighborhood. Lot's of shops for neighborhood folks, wine, cheese, bread, brasseries, and walking distance to Eifel Tower.

They have a website.

I don't know if you're reading it wrong (Leveque), but that wouldn't surprise me. IN fact, I am surprised they have anything in June. That's only a couple months away and popular Parisian budget hotels often are booked up farther ahead than that. That particular hotel is cited in Rick Steves or some guidebook like that (several, probably), so books up very early.

Hey "Just Returned" I also stayed at the Hotel des Arenes. But it was a year ago. Yes I recommend this hotel on price I had a double bed with nice sized bathroom, cable tv. The only drawback was that the manager propositioned me. I do not recommend this hotel for women traveling alone. And no I was not "on the make"

Carolyn, Hotel de la Sorbonne on www.france.com in the Latin Quarter has availability for June and is in your price range, with good customer comments. I've used this booking service several times and it has always been quite reliable.

We stay at Hotel La Motte Picquet http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h75007mottepicquet.htm

It's now listed in "Great [cheap] Sleeps" and I think in a Frommer's someplace. It is very "French" -- somewhat noisy [but it's FRENCH noise
] -- but located on the corner of rue Cler. You can search on the word picquet and get plenty of reviews.
