Dear Joan,
It's been a great trip so far and you're just getting started...
How fun it is to be in such beautiful and tranquil place, not to mention having wonderful food as a bonus. Nothing but superlatives to describe your adventures. You have made a lot of Fodorites happy with this thread.
bisous,
Lilia

Thanks Joan. Luckily I do have a Capitol One card and have notified them of our trip. But I will carry lots of others. I hardly ever use cash anymore at home. I appreciate all the great photos. I take photos of food too, lol. And fois gras is one of my favorite guilty pleasures.

Lunch today in St. Remy, a picture of some flowers in St. Remy and last night's entree..forgot to take the rest!!
Christine joined me for dinner. A couple from Baumaniere had made dinner reservations, so all could not join. Philippe and Jean-Pierre joined later and we chatted til midnight. A nice evening.
Enjoyed market day in St. Remy..a nice market..great variety of items..also the many, many attractive local shops. Nice restaurant for lunch. Perfecct weather.
Pack today and off early to TGV gare in Avignon. Inter -Shuttle picking me up at Gare de Lyon at 12:45.
a bientot...

Do you speak French? How well? If so, do you attempt to speak to people in French?
Seeing the food reminds me about how the French have portion-size figured out. I so love have delicious dishes which are moderate-sized portions. It is more fun to eat several small to medium-sized dishes than one large one.
You are going to Gare de Lyon. Any plans to eat at Le Train Bleu? It is so beautiful.
Have a safe TGV ride. It sounds like you are really enjoying yourself! That is great.

I speak only a little French. I know the things that we should properly say and do.
Yes, the food portions are very much to my liking. Huge plates are a turn-off, to me!
The TGV this dirrections does leave and return from Gare de Lyon. I have previously dined at Le Train Bleu. It is pretty.
Going to pack now...

Dear Joan,
Love the food in Provence! I have to wait another year - my friend on rue Joseph Bara will be celebrating her "grande fete" next year and we're having it in Bagnols (Beaujolais). There is a beautiful Chateau there which is part of the Relais et Chateaux group, we might take a meal there but staying is out of the question. It is "tres cher" for my blood.....
You'll be back in Paris by now and continue your lovely Paris life. Enjoy your cocktail time at the Ritz and give Paul, Eva, Florent and his friend a big bisous from me, please. Cafe Constant will have to close its door while the gang is there!
Bisous,
Lilia

I am bsck in Paris! I was up early for a sumptious breakfast at La Riboto and thought I should allow extra time to go to Avignon TGV. Fond goodbyes and hopes to meet in Paris in Dec. with Christine and Philippe!
Shuttle Inter took me to Gare de Lyon for my departure and also picked me up upon my return. The TGV is wonderful transportation..comfortable and just nice!
I arrived back at my apt. and only set up laptop to see if I would need to start from scratch for connecting..no, it remembered!
I then left and walked down to my friend Florent's place..mentioned with pictures earlier..Flirt The..walked in and asked him what was good for lunch!! What is nice is that because he serves afternoon tea, he is open all afternoon..some things may be sold out on his menu. I had(forgot to take camera for pics) a green been salad that also had some totato slices and a hard boiled egg..sides of oil, vinegar, mustard sauce...it was really great. A glass of white wine, a HUGE dish of strawberries with whipped crean(didn't know it is called chantilly)..all for 29.50! I am stuffed!
We talked about our GTG tomorrow evinging at Cafe Constant and my trip to Les Baux etc.
The Paris weather is beautiful. Must llok at the weekend as Florent said it was supposewd to be quite nasty! It does change quickly.
Must unpack etc..
a bientot from Paris!!
