Picture of Kate from hilly..new friend joining me for some dining.

My Leperliac..a hunting cocktail created in Armagnac country near Lupiac. Armagnac, white french clarified grape juice, fresh mint and champagne! You could drink many!! They changed their specilas from the internet list that I had posted. No Lemon Charlie!

If you go to Heminway..get there at 6:30..small place..fills quickly. We had a good time and thena wandered the area. I took metro back from Concorde and got off at La Tour Maubourg and surprised Valdo by stopping into Cafe Max. We visited for a few minutes...the place was busy. I wandered homeward and I did have a great sleep last night!!!

Mimi..for you:http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/Fra...-Mer/p8595.htm
It is still there..good spot to stay in the area. Nice owners, too.

We are meeting Elle at Table Joel Robuchon. Taking 82 bus and may wander area after and walk back.

Want to do the President Wilson market in morning..have not been to it and have heard nice things. May then go to BHV and also check our Spring..Sat. might not be the day to catch Daniel there..will see!!

Weather looks like it will be great today. Also some warmer weather appears to be on the way. Just have a cashmere cardigan for under your spring coat and that should take care of early chill! Bring a scarf for evenings/early morning.

I am going to fill my Navigo for next week. It will be all set then when I return from Provence on Thurs...get in about noon. Weather in Les Baux looks absolutely perfect!! I am looking forward to being there and they appear to be looking forward to seeing me again..most welcoming emails!

Apt. is great...everything I need..so comfortable!

More later from Paris!!

a bientot....

Table de Joel Robuchon:

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...000_0007-3.jpg

Above are pictures amuse bouche, entrees, main, cheese and desserts and glass of wine.

It was nice. It was crowded. Our reservations were for 1:00. It is now 59 euros. Reservations definitely.

We then went by "Spring" hoping to catch sights of the new place and hopefully Daniel. Nothing, nothing at all going on. Could see inside to hust piles of stuff. Don't know what is going on!

We then went to DHV. grandmere(Sue) please note IF you take metro and the entrance from there, directly inside on right will be various name signs etc...behind them are the ceramice number tiles. We then asked about drawer pulls and were told that there is now a new 4th floor with all sorts of household items..we took elevator to 4th floor...foundthem..boy, are there drawer pulls!! I have to go back,as this will take some time...plus more time in the store...lots of time!! Need to look for tassels and other things...

I am doing something simple this evening..may even pick up something to bring home!!

Tomorrow off to President Wilson market..early..

a bientot..

Joan - following your trip and enjoying every minute. Almost as good as being there.

We return to Paris in September and for the first time will be staying the week in an apartment on Ile St. Louis. Looking forward to the different experience. On your recommendation will book Inter-Shuttle for pickup.

Waiting for more..

Thanks for the pictures Joan. Yumm!

I know I speak for several people when I say it is disappointing to hear about your visit to the new Spring restaurant. I wonder what is going on.

I'm eager to hear about the President Wilson market tomorrow. I haven't been there either.

What type of flower is that in the pictured drink at the Hemingway Bar? It looks like an orchid or something similar, perhaps? I remember walking down the street with my red rose after visiting the Hemingway Bar. I wondered if people were wondering what the story was associated with that flower. I loved the mystery of it all!

Have a great day in PARIS!

The food looks like little works of art. Who had the fish & how was it (looks like he was trying to jump out of your dish!). Keep 'em coming!

USANC - when I went to Paris I wasn't sure what kind of handbag I wanted, so it was nice to see a variety of different designers at BHV. It's a fairly large department store and they have a wide range of prices. However, no shoes (boo!). I like the shoes at a store called Heyraud (several locations around Paris) and they last a long time. Don't forget to get a VAT (detax) form if you purchase alot of items from a particular store.

While you're in Paris, you currently have the opportunity to see the authentic version of "In the Electric Mist" at the cinema. Only a butchered DVD version was released in the United States, 'dumbed down' for American audiences -- it was never even released as a normal movie in the U.S. Go figure.

Nice to see you are in full swing Joan!
I will be reading up daily on your whirls around Paris until we leave for Ireland on 6th May. Total blank screen until I get back home on 2nd June from Paris.
Will have to 're-wind' somewhat to see what you've been up to!

Not sure what the flower was. I did find out the drinks that Kate had. One was a Hellraiser...A dry cocktail in Hemingway fashion created for a regular named Reza Made with vodka followed by the juice and husk of a fresh lime and a drop of soda. Served in an "old fashioned" glass with lots of ice. Her second one was Miss Blonde..Essence of homade raspberry with vodka finished with champagne.

Kate and Elle had the fish with the head on! Mine was the fish with the sauce.

Kate had never been to a starred restaurant. She enjoyed the large number of course experience along with the 2 star service.

People were dressed in all sorts of ways.

We took the 42 bus, I think to Victor Hugo for Robuchon. That looks like an area that I would like to go back to, for some wandering around.

Kerouac,

I will look into "In the Electric Mist". weekender suggested looking up "Valentino", too..not themovie star!!

Must find out more about Spring!!

Here are pictures from my lunch today at the Ritz Hotel's Bar Vendome:

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...000_0001-4.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...000_0002-3.jpg

It is a Ritz Caesar with shrimp.

The Le Meurice lost me as a long time customer in Dec. The Ritz Bar Vendome has just gained a new customer! Very nice! They must have all taken a very good course in niceness and friendliness...could not have been nicer. I am already a fan of the Crillon. My #42 bus is right outside..can take me to both!!

A drizzle and grey today..chilly.

The weather is to improve.

Davoli in the morning for their hot stuff to bring home. Just have to kddep my eyes from being bigger than my stomach. I don't need leftovers as I am going to Provence on Monday.

This might seem weird, considering how much time I have spent in Paris, but I know very little about the 6eme and 7eme in Paris. I googled Davoli and watched a wonderful video. I will definitely go there in September. Joan--what did you end up getting there?

How was the Marche Ave du President Wilson today? What did you buy?

You are probably rested up from your flight now. Now you are just tired from walking and looking at wonderful Paris--that is much preferred, don't you think!!

Monday to Provence. Did you get a PREM train ticket?

What are your Sunday plans?

Have fun!

I've had lunch in the garden at the Ritz but have never been to the bar. Am I missing much?

Mimi..The garden is just beyond the Bar Vendome. My table was backed up to the garden windows. It is open to the garden when weather is nice. The Bar area is very nice, baby grand piano, nice seating and decorating. Re-done in last few years, as I remember it from a few years back.

There is also the Ritz Bar, across from Bar Hemingway. Was told by staff that it is much different, young peoples crowd! It has only been there for a couple years.

ILWP..Bought my TGV tickets about amonth afo, online..120 euros R/T upper level seating. Spending 3 nights at La Riboto de Taven, favorite place.

President Wilson market is a very nice market. Do go. I didn't buy anything.Just looking. Weather was not the best, either.

Weather today is also to be rainy...tomorrow all changes and supposed to be in low 70's...great for your arrival, grandmere!!

The weather will decide on my day. I do need to pack for early train. Shuttle-Inter is also picking me up to take me to Gare de Lyon for my train.

Will let you know about Davoli, later.

a bientot..

It is warm out, but grey..no rain, yet!

I had my croissant and cafe creme at a boulangerie that I have been to before..Le Moulin de la Vierge, 64 r. St. Dominique..across street from Thoumieux. A pretty place, a little table for sitting.

I went by Davoli to see the hot menu for the day...all would be outside and ready about 10. I did some other little shopping and bck to apt. I returned and I have cnfit de canard and some wonderful looking potato salad, good bread and wine! Is there more to want for? There menu is online. So many delicious things inside to dhoose from!!

I am friends with a couple who is also in Paris right now for a month (although today they head to Tuscany/Florence-Siena) for a few days to visit friends). In my friend's blog yesterday, he mentioned that they ate at Les Cocottes and loved it. Joan, you started out your trip at Les Cocottes for lunch. Is this a special place to you? A favorite? Was this your first time there? I guess this is another place I will have to eat at when I'm there in September.

I don't know if PREM tickets are available to where you are going Joan. Do you know about PREM tickets? My friend who lives in Lyon, France told me about them and I purchased PREM seats to and from Lyon in Sept. 2007. They are discounted seats which go on sale 90 days (I think) before the date of travel. You can purchase them on line. The French people know about them and scarf them up. Different departure times might have different prices. Anyway, I ended up traveling round trip for about the price of a regular one-way ticket. I am going to attempt to use PREM tickets again for my train ride to the Loire Valley. I think the PREMs go to Angers which isn't far from Saumur where I am going.

Do you have a favorite neighborhood patisserie or do you like to "make the rounds"?

Do you have any particular "sites" which you are hoping to see on this trip?

Have a great Sunday--which I guess is nearly over for you now.

Safe traveling tomorrow.

I have been eating at the Constant restaurants for years! I often say that the Constants can easily feed me when in Paris! Their restaurants cover all price ranges and all types of food. Fables de la Fontaine is an excellent seafood restaurant.

When I decided to run down to Provence for a few days it was too late for PREM tickets. I felt like I got a good buy for my 1st class, upper level seats on the TGV to Avignon. This is my first for the TGV. I will let you know more after!

I'm not much for sweet items. I like a baguette and croissants. I prefer a place that has seating. Therre is one right here a block away, corner of Monttessuy and Bourdonnais. I also go to Cafe Constant for my cafe creme and croissnt during the week..and my friend Florent has his cute little place Flirt The..pictures posted earlier. He has good food too, reasonable prices..I did a picture of his "board" earlier, too. Since he is open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, it means that heis open all afternoon for yuou to be able to drop in. Keep it in mind.

Will try for some good pictures to post from Provence...

a bientot....
