Paris Apartment-2015

OK, I'm confused. I have bookmarked so many apartments and web sites that it's mindboggling.
We are taking our GC to Paris for their college graduation in 2015. Plus it's my 80th BD.

Looking for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath apartment in the 4th, 5th or 6th district. Our budget at the extreme is $2500 US dollars for 4 or 5 nights.

The dates are June 29th or 30th, thru and including the 3rd of July, 2015.

If anyone has stayed at an apartment meeting our requirements, Please help

My intent is to book one year in advance, sometime in June, 2014..

On July 4th, 2015 we take the GC and family for a week at a villa in Nice. The villa has been booked.

3 bedroom apartments can be a bit of a challenge. I just recently found a 4 bedroom we are renting in April and it was work. Certainly look at VRBO and use the sort features. Also, e-mail directly to some of the well known rental groups with your requirements and let them tell you what they may have. We have used www.vacationinparis.com and www.parisvacationapartments.com and have had really great experiences. www.rentparis.com is a more budget oriented group of apartments. They are very reliable and while they don't have a 3 bedroom listed they may have some that combine or are in the same building.
We are using www.commendablerentals.com this trip, you might give them a try as well. Good Luck!

yes, finding a 3/2 can be challenging but it is possible. You may encounter some issue with a rental period of only 4-5 nights, as a week minimum is common, especially for these larger places. I booked a 3/2 (no longer available) through www.homeaway.com.
If you can get by with two bedrooms, on the homeaway.com site property 149617 was great for us - two modern bathrooms, great location. Initially thought 15th was boonies but it was just great.

Thanks Seamus; I have homeaway.com book marked to research.

We do need 3 bedrooms, as each GD will have a guest and my wife and I need our own room.

But with six months to decide, I should be able to find something.

Actually, I do have some 3 bedrooms book marked and now was looking for personal first hand observations as you suggested.

By 2015, the rental of most holiday apartments will probably have become completely illegal (as it is already but not enforced). Holiday apartments must have been zoned as such and pay all necessary commercial taxes. One of the main ways you can tell at the moment if the place is illegal is if they request any cash payment upon arrival. This is for the purpose of tax evasion and should be avoided at all costs.

While renters will never be prosecuted, it is extremely likely when there will be a time where the holiday renters will arrive and be told that their reserved accommodations are not available. That would be rather upsetting.

You might want to look into official appart-hotels like Adagio or Citadines (there are plenty more) to avoid extreme disappointment at the last minute.

(Note: the next municipal elections in France take place in March 2014, so the main time to start checking for strict application of rental laws will be after that date.)

Assuming you can still rent an apartment then with legal issues kerouac stated, have you looked at Guest Apartment Services or Paris Perfect for an apartment?

Will be interesting to see what happens with the vacation rental market in Paris .

I've never rented a 3 BR, but there isn't any way in the world they could rent a 3 BR apt from Paris Perfect for US$500 a day! Their apts are extremely expensive, and the cheapest 3 BR they have is about 1000 euro a night in high season (or 6500 euro a week). Guest Apt Services is also luxury apts and the cheapest one they have that sleeps 6 is 550 euro a night--and they have a one week minimum. That budget is definitely not close to being suitable for luxury apts, as it is only around 360 euro a night. They need a budget company or VRBO or something cheap.

I only rent from cheaper companies and they have all been fine. I have used www.lodgis.fr and www.locaflat.fr which are both local French companies and modestly priced.

Now I didn't end up using this company but was eyeing an apt on it (and read a good review of the company in general elsewhere). They do have a couple 3 BRs, and this one looks the best and is definitely in that budget. It's not bad, big and has a terrace (plus top floor with elevator which can be nice to avoid noise). I might not choose that as my top location (near the Bourse metro), but it's not bad. It is less than 400 euro a night in summer.

I would think that legitimate rental companies pay all the necessary taxes and if there is a "crack down" as reported by Kerouac on those not paying taxes it would be the vrbo and homeaway listings by owners. I certainly hope the apartment rental market doesn't disappear for Paris. I'd really miss the extra space in apartments over hotel rooms for lengthy stays.

We are using a new to us rental company for our stay this June. It's a 3 bedroom 2 bath in the 6th near the Seine. The company managing the apartment is Paris Attitude. Deborah

Whereas this apartment is not 3 bedrooms, it does have 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a comfortable sofa bed in the living room. www.vrbo.com/90955 and would work for your budget. I stayed in it in 2011 with my daughter, her husband, and two children. It's in a great location in the 6th, very quiet for such a vibrant area. Check it out and see if it might work for your family group.

It sounds like a wonderful trip; lucky GDs!

I rented this apartment in 2010 for 7 people and liked it a lot. http://www.parisrentaparts.com/PBCPPlayer.asp?ID=183753 It's listed at 2500€ per week but if they would rent for less than a week, and it appears from their availability calendars that they sometimes do, it could work for you.

Two of the girls would have to share a double bed or one of them could sleep on the sofa bed in the living room. That's where I slept and it was quite comfortable.

The location is excellent, easy walk to Saint-Germain-des Prés metro station.

This company also has a few other 3 bedroom apartments. I have no idea whether their apartments are legally rented or not. I remember being concerned about that even in 2010 but everything worked out fine.

Good luck!

Hi Richard, a friend of mine is renting this apartment in June of 2014. When she is home again I can let you know if they liked it.

Hi cathies; Thanks. Great apartment. I did price the apartment for four nights this year about the same time we will be there in 2015. Unfortunately over our budget.

Hi All; This apartment seems to be in a great location.

Does anyone know anything about this manager?

www.airbnb.com/rooms/2084841?guests=6

Betty1; Still looking at the apartment you suggested. Will e-mail them later today to check the availability for 4 nights.
