Paris and ??? itinerary help
I am traveling to Paris in late May with my husband, 3-year old daughter, and in-laws. My husband and I have been to Paris before and are using it as a first international trip for our daughter since we are already familiar with the city and sites. We were originally planning to spend 3 nights in Amsterdam before flying home to Houston because flights were quite a bit cheaper than from Paris (and we would get to see somewhere new). However, we had trouble finding the right place to stay in Amsterdam (multiple declined AirBnB requests) and flights have fluctuated and are now cheaper from Paris. Now we are reevaluating our plans and trying to decide what to do.
Our Paris hotel is booked through May 29. We planned to catch a return flight to Houston on June 1 (this date is flexible within a day or so depending on flight pricing). My question is: what should we do with the time in between?
Should we just spend the entire time in Paris and perhaps plan a couple of day trips? If so, where? Ten days seems like a long time to spend in a place that you've already been. Bear in mind that we will be traveling with a 3-year old, so easy/fast transportation is important.
Or, should we try to go somewhere else in France for a few days? If so, where should we go? The last time we went to France, I considered Lyon or Dijon, but I'm not sure how realistic it is to add either of these with only a couple of days. With travel time, we'd really only be able to spend a couple of days there (which is what we were planning to do in Amsterdam). Will we end up spending more time traveling back and forth than is worth it? The flight to Houston from Paris leaves in the morning around 10am, so this would likely mean going back to Paris the evening before and just sleeping in an airport hotel.
Or, should I just suck it up and stick with Amsterdam (and keep up the seemingly endless cycle of researching AirBnBs that will sleep 4 adults and 1 child)?
Help! I'm crippled with indecision.
