Paris 16th
I am leaving for Paris solo from LA on Dec. 14th to 23rd. I would like to have a recommendation for a hotel in the area of 16th, range 100-150 Euros. I am a hard-working "ready for a lovely Christmas break in Paris" traveler. Also as I am more "at home" in Rome, any recommendations for Artesia train Paris to Rome? Are only choices couchette or first class seat?
Merci!

Have a look at the Regent's Garden, a house built for the doctor of Napoléon. It's on a side street and has a pretty little garden. Ask for a room on the first floor; those are larger.
The neighborhood has a very good Italian restaurant, just down the street, as well as a small market across the way--useful for water and such.

A very nice 16th district hotel that I stayed at is Hotel du Rond Point de Longchamp. The street, rue de Longchamp, has a fantastic full view of the Eiffel Tower once you walk out the hotel. Some rooms do have views but they may be all booked by now.

Highly recommend the Hotel du Bois, a lovely 3-star hotel just off the Ave. Victor Hugo. It's an excellent neighborhood, tres Parisien. The hotel does have rooms available for your dates and is offering some excellent winter/Christmas promotions...you could get a room with breakfast for under 100 euro per night...leaves more for food and shopping!
The area around the Place Victor Hugo is my favorite part of Paris. Lively, attractive, not touristy.

Hi art,
>any recommendations for Artesia train Paris to Rome? Are only choices couchette or first class seat?<
You can choose 2cl couchette (6 people), 2cl T3, or 1cl couchette.
See www.sncf.com.
A 1cl couchette can be had for a few E more than 2cl.
