Paper store in Venice with puppets in the window

Can anyone please help me find the name of a store in Venice. I was there last summer and want to identify it in my scrapbook. To get to it we went down a little alley from the Piaza san Marco. It was a little ways down from the gallery that that sells Salvadore Dali things. On the corner where we turned there was a glass shop with a clear glass nude in it. We walked over a bridge, and came to a very large well known designer shop wher we had to turn either right or left. We turned left and the paper shop was not too far on the left. The thing that sets this shop apart fromthe rest was the two large puppets hanging in the window, the fox and the cat from the Pinnochio story. The store had a beautiful, colourful collection of leather bound address books and journals. They also have many cours of ink, sealing wax and seals and beautiful glass pens. Can anyone help me, please?

Is it possible for you to look at a map and give us the name of the calle?

I know how you feel! The last few years, I've been keeping extensive journals so that when I return to Venezia I know just where my favorite shops/restaurants etc, are located!

Good Luck!

Loncall it looks very similar to the drawing of the shop on the website you suggested, but the cat, Pinnochio and Fox were hanging in the large window to the right of the door.

diddl_maus,

a) *Most* shopfronts in Venice look similar to the one in the drawing.
b) The puppets may well have been a temporary window display.

I think they are permanent in this window. They were there in 2002 and in exactly the same spot in 2006.You might wonder why I didn't makke a note of the store the second time I visited. I didn't have a pen with me and asked somebody to write the name of the store down for me. She did but lost the notes she took that day.

oooh, I feel your pain! Last May I stumbled across a store which sold beautiful Indian dresses and clothing. I bought a gorgeous dress and two tops. I get complimented each and every time I wear my dress and hoped to buy another one like it this year. When I went back this May, I couldn't find the store again.

I hope you can find the name of it.

Thanks. I hope I can find the name of it, too. I am thinking it might be Lyra. But the website is under construction or something.

Hi Diddl - The website lists 2 addresses in the San Marco area:

LYRA - Merceria S. Marco 714
LYRA - Spadaria S. Marco 665

Just an idea for future reference -

When I go someplace without pen and paper, I ask if I may take a photo (using macro feature on my camera) of the business letter head or a business card. In addition, many stores have their address on their bags.

I actually prefer the photo route since I know that I'll likely misplace a slip of paper.

Thanks Steve, there were a lot of those sealing wax stamps at the back of the store. We could be on to something, here.

And moldyhotelsaregross, I asked for business cards everywhere else but there were none at this place. Your idea of photographing the letterhead is nice, too.

Was it La Fenice (The Phoenix)? I bought a lot of lovely things from there on my last visit.

"two large puppets hanging in the window, the fox and the cat..."

Oh God. I am having cat puppet withdrawal. Must get cat puppet! Must get cat puppet! Help me!

We bought a cat puppet in 2005, but think it was from another store. It was a Three Musketeers-type cat puppet. I then sought immediate professional help.
