Papal Blessing
I'm looking for more information on getting a papal blessing. We're planning to go to Italy for our honeymoon in early June & would like to get blessed by the pope. Is there only certain times in the week he deos this - by blessing the entire crowd? Is it during/after a mass? Any info is appreciated! Thanks!

Go to www.santasusanna.org and all your questions should be answered. Newly married couples can receive a personal Papal blessing during his Wednesday general audience. Good Luck and Happy Marriage!!! Mike

There is also the outdoor Sunday blessing. In summer, the Pope could possibly be at his summer residence south of Rome. The Vatican website is www.vatican.va

Definitely try to get a blessing at the Wednesday Papal Audience. If held outside, the newlyweds are seated ON STAGE with the Pope. At the conclusion of the audience, they line up and meet the Pope briefly, kiss his ring, and receive the blessing. However, you must wear your wedding attire. If you don't hear from Santa Susanna quickly, try the Bishop's Office of the North American College in Rome. They are very helpful.

A papal blessing (Benediction Papalis) is a document certifying that the Pope has bestowed his blessings as a gift for certain special occasions. A friend of ours who is a priest in Rome got us one as a gift for our wedding.
We did attend the Papal Audience at St Peters Square when we went last to Rome last year though. Usually held every wednesday. You have to get tickets to enter and be seated.
