Palma de Majorca for 3 days: What are the must-sees?
I"ll be traveling to Palma with a friend next week! We'll be staying in Palma for three days and then we're off to Santanyi for 4 relaxing days at the beach. What are some of the must-see's while in Palma? I hear the Cathedral is amazing. I've also heard about the train to Soller, which also sounds great!
Any recommendations?
Thanks!!

Valdemossa is an absolute must. I found it just stunning with wonderful light, cobblestoned streets and courtyards. It was impossibly cute; I am so vexed my camera battery had died.
My other highlight was kayaking in Soller.

Palma:
Yes, the cathedral La Seu is great. Also just walk around the port and through the old town. Be sure to see the art nouveau buildings, many of them designed by Gaudi.
I also recommend the Royal Palace (Palau de S'Almudaina), right by the cathedral. If you are interested in art, visit the Fundació Pilar I Joan Miró and Es Baluard - both excellent museums focusing on the work of Joan Miró who lived in Palma.
The train ride to Soller is nice, and Soller is a pretty city. I would do it.
As recommended, rent a car and drive to Valldemossa, visit the monastery, and drive the road along the west coast northwards (you may visit Soller on this drive too). Stop at Miramar (vista) and see the tiny village of Fornalutx (many call it Mallorca's most beautiful village). Also drive to Sa Calobra, pull off your shoes and walk a bit along the stream and across the beach.
The west coast is the most scenic part of Mallorca.
