Palacio Belmonte in Lisbon
Has anyone stayed at Palacio Belmonte? I am planning a trip to Portugal this summer for my family: myself, husband and 3 kids in their 20's. I like that this place offers a 2 bedroom, 2 bath option. I've read great and awful reviews on other websites but can't find anything on Fodors. Any help is welcome. We are also considering a townhome through VisitingPortugal.com.
Thank you,
Leslee

Hi Leslee,
haven't stayed at Palacio Belmonte but can recommend Deb and Jordan from visitingportugal.com. We (2 adults plus 18 & 20 year old boys) stayed in Casa Patria last Christmas for 5 days. Wonderful accommodation, great location and thoughtful and helpful hosts who live a couple of doors down the road.

Lesless-
We are just back. We stayed four nights, left and decided to come back. Here is the scoop. First and foremost this is not a big Hyatt Regency. It is a very personal and intimate place. The owners have restored inch by inch the history of a wing of the Palacio St. Jorge into a museum.
There was not one thing we did not like. IF you have an interest in Lisbon, the history of the city, a great location, an amazing environment to come back to, exceptionally comfortable rooms, personal service, incredible breakfast, help with dinners, and an amazing place to relax early and late evening in rooms which are public, but more like a personal mansion and less like a some hotel, then this is your spot.
I suspect it has been difficult in the past for the owners to find consistent management as it is really a small personal 11 suite part of the historic Palacio; and no detail has been left behind to restore it back to its original architecture. Go for it. You will LOVE IT.
Remember, you are going to Lisbon. Ask Maria where the best seafood place is.....go there the first night.
