SeaUrchin, I've got the legs, so I've been told. quot;>

I must be naive or have led a sheltered life. The "wife beaters" thingy went right over my head.

I like suze's list, but I'm not sure I could fit all that into one 22" suitcase. I thought I had fully packed mine, and I did not have quite as many clothes as that.

I promise you, try it, it does (fit)! My pants are lightweight not blue jeans, rather loose rayon or linen. Tops all lightweight knits and fold up into a nice neat pile. No single item is bulky. Plan to wash out undies and tops in the hotel sink using their shampoo now and then. And socks I'm talking 2 not 10.

I don't bother with a windbreaker or umbrella myself, hesitate to give this as good advice, just my way.

Suze, my difference was probably that I put in a lot more socks and underwear - which might make up for two of the tops. Plus, I'm not always the best folder.

So right you are! I had the fantasy of taking enough with hopes of not having to wash-out anything on my recent trip. Not feasible. Who would have thought how much room lots of little stuff takes up? I'm normally not especially neat but for a good pack fold the tops, knife edge on a hard surface and make a tight stack. Pants lay on top, last thing into the suitcase.

Oh dear, our original poster must be bored to tears by now!!!

Oh m'gosh! I'm overwhelmed with all the replies...thanks all!

suze...loved your list!

Question for degas: If I fill my shoes with the fruit loops and place Spam in an extra large ziploc bag (and then compress flat) do you think everything will fit in a 22" suitcase?

Grazie mille!

leenermac~ My pleasure. Fodors folks have given me so much help over the years, it's fun to return the favor when I can.

I hope you have an absolutely wonderful time on your first trip abroad! And I must say, your last post sounds so much more relaxed than your first one. Ain't life grand?
