oh pleeze... guess what? most of us do not use a "packing service" nor have the desire to haul a 33" suitcase around - since we have to carry those ourself too! kindly, get real!

If I'm travelling without a companion I can easily manage to take a 33" case of the carousel myself, and wheel it through security to the driver or even to the taxi stand. I always travel with a large holdall too, I can manage this so I'm sure anyone else can too. And no I never do weightlifting!

I'm going on holiday this weekend for nine nights, I'm taking a 33"and a 28" trolley case and my vintage Gucci holdall that goes everywhere with me. Taking two cases allows me to have a good selection of outfits, I might not even get to wear everything, but I can't decide what I want to wear until the moment arises.

Hello. My problem with packing is that I don't know what I'll feel like wearing when I'm away. But I'm going to try and be more disciplined because I might find some lovely clothes on my travels and Ill need space for those.

I wish South Africa had the ziplock bags I've read about on this forum. Everyone seems to rave about them.
This has given me a lot to think about.
Thanks.

This whole mix-and-match question is easily solved -- take neutral colors for pants, skirts, and outerwear; colors or patterns for tops.

For a 15-day trip during which you have some access to laundry, take 5 days' worth of everything and wash twice -- 5 each of tops, socks, undies, 2 or 3 pants/skirts. Whatever outerwear you might need, depending on weather and special events, take ONE of each -- one jacket, sweater, etc.

If this is a repeat from above, sorry. I did not read all the responses:

Buy travel underwear. The stuff is great! You can take 3 pairs and do your trip as it is easy to wash, very comfortable and dries overnight. My wife and I started using this a few years ago and will not be without it now. Sure beats hauling 15 days of the other stuff around.

Also be aware that the airlines are really enforcing the weight on suitcases to collect extra money. This happened to us on two recent trips. You will buy things while there so it is better to carry one extra smaller bag to spread the weigth than to try to do with only one stuffed bag.

Remember: They have clothes cleaners in Europe also. Take less and get it washed or cleaned while there. Works every time.

I defense of NOT taking a 33" PLUS a 28" inch case... Yes I might be able to lift it off the carousel at the airport but that's just the start of a trip! Then there's taxis, busses, boats, ferries, vaporetto, trains, hotels with stairs and no elevators, cobblestone streets, etc.
