Safety Razors and electric razors can be carried on the plane. So your basic ladies razor is fine just carry it on. (I think they did ban them at one point and I just bought one in the city I flew to.)

That is the other thing to realize. In this day and age practically EVERYTHING you need is in Europe for sale.

ziana, you should be able to purchase the adaptor at the duty free shop at your international airport. They are labled for each country, both on the packet and adaptor

The concierge always provides me with a suitable adaptor.

having just read through the thread I am rather tired. I offer the following thoughts (a few repeated)
You and should wear the same outfit once, twice three times depending on the length of your trip. You will be a tourist in a place where no one knows you- they will never know how often you've worn the same clothes.
Pre-pack. lay out all the things you want to take with you. If an item doesn't match up with two or more items ( ie. pants go with two pairs of shoes and two tops) out it goes.
You CAN wear the same sweater every day. I won;t tell anyone. promise.
Sox should be wool or synthetic- cotton hold moisture.
Wash items right away. Roll in a towel to take out as much water as possible.
for an extended trip take two smaller bottles of shampoo/contact solution/cream and throw one away once empty. No sense having a half empty bottle taking up space.
Use zip bags for underwear and socks and any bulky items.
Layer layer layer

Ozzietex. You wrote you'll be there April 23 through June 2nd? (That's a beautifully long time). AND, you have a black tie evening? Just a thought...but couldn't one Fed Ex oneself some outfits and accessories to one's Hotel? And, ship it back out home afterwards? Even "slow boat" fed ex might be cheaper than overweight luggage charges, and far easier than lugging it.

I WILL be there with people who knows me. I am meeting childhood friend, whom I haven't seen for 12 years, her DH whom I never saw and her parents who I grew up with.
See, how much difficult it is for me then for normal tourist ?
So, now I am going crazy about the weather. What if I follow advise and will bring 5 T-Shirts for 12 days and 6 sweaters and it'll gonna be HOT for 12 days ?
I have less then a week to work on it...

Having read all these posts, I realize that people say that you can wear the same clothes over and over again because people don't know you....to the people who give that advice, have you thought that maybe some people don't want to wear the same clothes over and over again for themselves and not for others?
As far as others are concerned, I could wear the same exact clothes every day, I couldn't care less what others think. However, I would get bored like crazy if I wore the same outfit over and over again, plus there's a little thing called hygiene!
Wearing the same clothes again and again, especially if traveling during warm weather could get a little gamy! Yes, I know people say that you can just do laundry....frankly, I don't fly thousands of miles to a country have never been to, to spend even 30 minutes doing laundry! Therefore, I might pack more, but that's my decision, and I have to deal with it.

Packing light is a personal decision.

I fail to understand why you get so worked up about advice on how to do it. Advice is free and it may or may not apply to your requirements. For some of us the hassle of excess luggage is greater then the laundry hassle. For others it is the exact opposite.

Variety is what makes the world great. This is just a message board. Take what you can use and discard the rest and remember.... you don't know and will never meet 99.9% of the people on here so you don't have to worry about what they think.

I totally agree, packing light is a personal choice, and I appreciate any advice people give. However, where I get a little annoyed, is when people say, that you can pack light because you won't see the people again, what does that really have to do with packing light?
I agree with you that packing light is more of a convenience, and a personal choice. I have no problem with people who pack light, but why is it that most people who pack light seem to pass judgment on people who choose not to?

I tend to be in the pack light school. That may be becuause a lot of my trips are with my mother who "thinks" she is a light packer. Since I am the luggage person, I am pretty sure she isn't!! So I guess I have to pack light to deal with her extras. I did make her drop down one suitcase size. (She tended to keep adding things, since she had room! Now she has less room, we will see LOL!)

I just spent one week in Paris (3/27-4/3)and this is what I took with me. It includes what I wore on the plane.
The weather was mostly sunny and cool with highs in the upper 50's and lows in the 30's. I used a garment bag and a carry-on bag or I wore the following:

Overall, I did very well. I wore/used everything that I brought, mixed and matched, etc. However, I learned the following:

I should have brought earplugs.

I only wore the dress once - I'm a pants person.

I washed one pair of undies in the sink.

There was no place in my hotel room to hang the garment bag up. So, it would have been easier to have a regular suitcase.

The magazines made my carryon heavier, but I enjoyed the reading and paid the price.

The nylon tote was great for carrying my map, folder, water bottle, tissues, hand sanitizer, camera during the day. On the way home, it was great for carrying souvenirs.

You have far too much time on your hands, I see that you have neglected to mention your size - if you were a fat individual your packing would've been an even more immense feat to say the very least.

You plan things far too much, let it happen naturally - I throw everything into my toilet bags, have my whole wardrobe for that season transferred to cases. If I don't use all of it so what? I have never paid excess baggage using this method - always within my allowance.

As for packing a bible - I'm quite sure that this can be found anywhere, mind you after having itemised every last detail maybe you need to start praying ASAP.

Since this thread is about packing, your message was totally appropriate and though I'm not a bible reader myself, I absolutely understand why one would want to bring their own on a trip. Glad you enjoyed your trip. Obviously your life is much better than some others on this board...

UM...wifeybugs post was right in line with the trend,oxygirl was the one with the "bible thumping". However I have no idea what the later poster is talking about.

I fail to understand why being LARGE had that much impact. I mean unless you are a size 40 HOW much more space can your clothing take up?
