Oyster Card PAYG and Daily Caps
I will be in London for 4 days this summer traveling in Zone 1&2. Appears best plan is to use the Oyster Card PYAG option. In reading the Oyster Fare Guide it appears that travelers are capped at $6.10 euro for days travel...so the most I would pay for travel in Zone 1 is $6.10 euro per day? Second, my daughter is 17 as a nonresident it appears she would not be eligible for the student rate? Appreciate Fodorite advice to ensure I've understood the fare guide. Thanks.

actually off peak it caps at £4.60..the higher rate would be if you use public transportation before 0930 on weekdays and use the tube at least once...if all you use are the buses it will cap at £3 no matter when your first trip is.....
As far as the 17 year old, we went with a friend his wife and 6 teen age girls to visit London in February. The girls were 16 and 17 and after a lot of consideration, reading and decisions, we decided what the hell and simply bought the adult oyster cards for the girls...it just seemed like too much trouble to get reduce rate oyster card for 17 year old non residents....the cards were cheap enough anyway.
