OXFORD - BEST ROUTING
My niece will be leaving from Charlotte or Raleigh, North Carolinia for a study abroad program at Oxford this summer.
Does anyone have recommendations regarding which airport would have the easiest onward travel options to Oxford? I'm assuming that going through London is unnecessary. Is that correct?
She may be traveling alone on her first European trip.
Thank you, Travelottie

The best way to get to Oxford is to fly into LHR and take one of the frequent buses such as the Oxford Tube into Oxford. The buses leave from the Central Bus Station at Heathrow.Very easy to find. They make several stops in Oxford before reaching Gloucester Green which is Oxford's central bus station.

Historytraveler is almost right. There is a bus route from the London area to Oxford called the Oxford Tube. But it doesn't go through Heathrow, so don't confuse yourself - or your niece - looking for it.
Simply get on the bus that's marked Oxford.

Not necessarily. The Oxford Bus Company offers direct service from both airports to Oxford. From Heathrow, it's 80 minutes and costs £16. From Gatwick, it's 120 minutes and £20. If flights to Gatwick are more convenient or significantly cheaper, it may be an option.

We're currently living in Oxford. Heathrow is a shorter trip. You neice may be able get a discount if she has a student card. She should also ask about a period return, £19. They're valid for 3 months.
Busses leave Heathrow every 30 minutes.
From central bus station for terminals 1,2,&3 go to bay 14. Travel time to Oxford is about 80 minutes. From Terminal 4, bay 15 about 20 minutes longer. WEBSITE
