overnight train from Venice to Zagreb

Hi , I was wondering if anyone on the site has taken the overnight train from Venice to Zagreb? It sounded like a very cool idea since none of the four of us had been on one but the train gets in really early at 4:30 am. Is the area around the train station safe around that time? What have other people done so early in the am after arriving? Does this train tend to be on time or can we hope for a delay ;-) ? We will be there in mid June,2007.

Thanks for the website blightyboy. It was interesting reading about the overnight trains in general, but I wasn't able to find the one from Venice to Zagreb. We did decide to do the overnight so I would like some advice about what to do early in the morning in Zagreb, especially if someone has alrady taken that particular train.

At 04.30 you'll be lucky to find a cup of coffee. The station might even be locked up. Probably nothing will open for hours so you will be on your own. Do you have a room yet? If so go there and finish sleeping.

Thanks blightyboy and hopscotch. This will be interesting! Zagreb seems like a big enough place to at least have something open around the train station, especially since this train comes in at that time every day. I guess we will see.
