outlet mall

I was reading that there is a Gucci/Prada outlet mall outside of Florence. We are renting a car and I was wondering if anyone has been there and if so how far is it outside of Florence? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thx

I recently saw a Travel Channel program with Samantha Brown in Florence. She went to the Gucci museum, I think, and there was a discount shop associated with it.

Hi cdngirl, I have not been to the outlets but three Italian friends of mine that live in Florence and the region of Veneto went some months ago.
They told me that they would probably never bother going again. They said it was all last year styles and in their opinion everything was way overpriced. Now they are woman that do not do tons of shopping but they are very selective in what they purchase. They do like quality and items that are not trendy as they keep their clothes and accessories for quite awhile.

However, if you do a search here on Fodors I know there have been other threads regarding the outlets and perhaps you can read some other people thoughts. Have a wonderful time in Italy.

The articles which you are referring to are in and around the town of Montevarchi less than an hour by train from Florence. Several companies in Florence offer tours by bus to the Prada outlet and the Mall, with Gucci and several other outlets. Try CAFTOURS.COM.

Sorry, I meant outlets, not articles. They are very well-known; many travel guides have info on them.
