Thank you all for your suggestions. I am not too worried about getting off the boat at 10:30 as we are staying in the 7th and it shouldn't be too far of a hike if we did indeed have to walk.

ehughes...Thanks for answering. As long as there is something chicken and/or something beef I am good to go. Mom? She'll eat anything.

This is going to be FUN! You guys have definitely made us decide to try it.

Hi S,

> Can you tell me if it is ok not to dress up and for men is it ok not to wear a tie to the lunch cruise.<

Yes, would you like me to?

In general, ties are no longer required just about everywhere, and women needn't "dress up" for lunch.

I suggest bringing one, just in case.

Thanks Ira,

10 years ago we did the dinner cruise. We were told that there was a strict dress code. So I wore an evening gown and Jim wore a suit and tie. We could not get a cab so had to walk in the rain in 3 inch heals back to the hotel Nikko. I don't travel with heals and sequined gowns these days. They take up too much luggage space. S

Where is a good fish only restaurant? Le Dome Bastille does sell shellfish. The food and restaurant were well liked by my Parisian cousin. She tries to keep Kosher and thus avoids shellfish. One entree, two plats, 2 glasses excellent white wine, and one dessert ran 98 euros. It was excellent. Get off at the Bastille metro stop. The restaurant is a few steps away.

I'm also going to Paris. I'm going with friends, in March, a little chilly. One friend mentioned a Seine cruise. I like the idea of eating elsewhere. Do you have to "dress up" for the non-food cruise? Is the Batobus a narrated tour cruise or just transportation on the river? Are we going to freeze in March? One friend is a teacher and that's her month off, that's why we are going in March.

I've been scanning the threads for all the great info they give. Thanks to all.

Susan

Vedettes de Pont Neuf is narrated. If you go onto their website, you can download a 2 Euro coupon. We really liked their sunset cruise.

The night curise on the Seine is really beautiful, but the food is not up to much, so we took the boat that just did the cruises, so we didnt have to endure the dinner, its called BATEAUX, it was very good value and lasted about 90mins.

No, you can wear anything - but in March be sure to have a coat or something warm.

JanisJ...So speaking of weather, what can one expect the second week of September? We will be in London beforehand and I expect that to be chilly, but what is Paris like then?

The Batobus is not narrated, but it's possible the crew could/would answer questions. A very nice, inexpensive way to see much of the city.

You can wear anything you like on a non-dinner cruise - but do dress warmly, especially if you go in the evenings.

I think the Vedettes du Pont Neuf are much nicer cruises than the Bâteaux-Mouches, which are so huge and crowded you can't hear the narration.

And here's another vote for just taking the boat cruise and then going to have a really nice dinner somewhere nearby afterwards.

Hi Dejais, We ate dinner at the Altitude 95 as part of Citirama's bus tour of Paris lights. We thought the food was very good (say 4 out of 5 possible stars). This tour dropped us off at Eiffel Tower then took others on to Moulin Rouge-another touristy thing we haven't been able to stay awake for! I can't compare a Seine boat trip views with a bus trip views but you might be able to do both? Please let everyone know what you end up doing! Enjoy!

Donco...I will definitely let you know what I end up doing. However, I am not going until next September. Obviously, I am a serious planner. Either that or a total control freak. *LOL*
