Opera Tickets in Rome

I noticed that "Tosca" will be performed at the Teatro alle Terme di Caracalla, Rome while we are traveling there this July. Has anyone attended an Opera here? It is on the site of the Baths of Caracalla. If so, any seat recommendations - hard to tell about the venue from the online map. Thanks in advance!

I saw Aida there a couple of years ago. The seating area is fairly intimate, with rows of folding chairs set up on terraces. All seats are pretty good. Don't overdress as evenings in July can get very hot and sticky and there is little air movement within the Baths. Getting transportation back to your hotel after the opera can also be difficult so be prepared to walk a ways to find a taxi or the bus stop.

I think you mean Aida. Yes, there were two live elephants in the production. The stage is fairly large and some distance from the seating area.

no elephants in Vienna, I can report. the singing was great but the casting was wierd - the soprano cast as aida would have done better as a Rheinmaiden rather than an ethiopean slave, and the tenor lead was no lightweight. we had to work hard to suspend our disbelief.

ilbrad - how was tosca?

Tosca was great. The day had been really hot, but miraculously cooled down. Wonderful performance, beautiful setting. Would highly recommend integrating this into any Rome trip.
