Open Letter to Europe
I am an American. My great, great, great, great grandfathers and grand mothers came from Europe. They came from Ireland, Norway, The Czech Republic, France, Germany, and Spain. I love Europe and it is my fav place to travel.
Thank you for keeping your socities civil, your villages, towns, and cities charming.
Thank you for creating a great mass transit system, for honoring your traditions, and for not becoming too American (i.e strip malls, McDonald's, sloppy dress, no vacation, loud people)
I always look forward to my next European trip because it is not like to USA, or Japan, or anywhere.
I love hiking in the Alps and enjoying a beer as I go, I love your beautiful women, I love the French and their beautiful country, Spain, Scotland, Austria, Denwmark, etc - I love it all.
I wish that in the USA we could have universal health care, university, and other critical things. While I love the USA in many respects, we have a lot to learn from Europe.
Keep doing what you are doing.

We love holidaying in Europe and the USA as well. Some of the things we love about America are the enormous shopping malls that are everywhere, good roads that are well signposted and easy to follow, free toilets everywhere (my pet peeve about Europe, where do they expect people to go to the loo????), free drinking water fountains are common, it's easy to find a motel to drive up to and stay for the night. None of these things apply to most of Europe but maybe that's part of it's charm.

Yeah, right on! Lots of free stuff there in Europe. Early retirement too. Great pensions. Shorter work weeks. Oh wait...those are the countries hitting bottom...going broke...where all the strikes are going on...and the unrest...
Take a look at a few European newspapers, why don't you? Heard of what's going on in Greece lately, France, Spain...?
