"Only You" Rome hotel?

Does anyone know if the Roman hotel pictured in the movie, "Only You" with Marisa Tomei is a real hotel in Rome? If so, what is the name? I thought it was very charming and would like to stay there or at another hotel/pensione like it this summer. Thanks!

Sorry cherylac, it was a set not a real hotel in Rome. The hotel in Positano is real--the Siraneuse (?spelling). Was a real disappointment to me too that the Rome hotel did not exist.

Thanks, Giovanna. You've saved me a lot of time trying to track it down! That was my idea of the perfect hotel.

Giovanna, how do you know that the hotel was just a set? I also thought the hotel was very charming. I know that they show the name of the hotel in the film, but I can't remember what it was. On www.rdjfan.com/actor/film/onlyyou/notes.htm they say "Faith and Peter's night on the town ends at the historic Hotel De La Ville", but I'm pretty sure that was not the name shown in the movie. I've looked at pictures of the Hotel de la Ville, and it doesn't look like the hotel in the movie. But if you can tell me how you were able to determine that it was just a set, I, too, will put the matter to rest.

There have been several long threads on the forum about favorite movies filmed in Europe. The question about whether or not the hotel in Rome existed came up on one of those threads. A response said it was a set not a real hotel. If I remember correctly the response was documented. I thought I had printed that thread, but looked through my file on movies and can't find it.

After I saw your post, I searched both Ask Jeeves and Google, but came up empty. So I am unable to give you actual proof, only relied on the above-noted thread.

Faith and Peter's night on the town ends up at Peter's hotel, not Faith's. The Hotel De La Ville is located in the vicinity of the Spanish Steps. Peter's room had that great terrace, although not as charming a place as Faith's!
