Tell DH that I've used Google's Picasa for several years...great for editing your pix and storing them in albums ...When you run out of space you can buy chunks of gigabytes for about $25 a year.

Thanks for a great report.
We had Dr. Wagner last year for an Inspector Morse tour in Oxford--what fun to see you enjoyed her too! She is a hoot (in an excellent way)! (I believe she told me she was a literature/comparative literature professor at several different colleges over the years.)

Iowa and tower - DH uses Picasa (non-web). He knows all about the other sites, for him its a matter of time to get it together on the web. I've put in a request, but I can't promise anything.
Sorry about the paragraph thing, it was easier for me to jump up/down to find the specific day as I worked.
texasbookworm, isn't that the truth! She says she mostly tours on Sundays (didn't find out AM or PM).

Two questions I wanted to ask: I saw many pubs with 'Free House' - I think - indicated on the signs. What does that mean?
Also I noticed that none of the windows had screens, and in such a humid/wet environment I was sure I would have been eaten alive by mosquitos and other bugs. Not one bite! How does England have no pests?!?! Jealous! (I did see flies)

>>would normally be independently owned.<<
Since there was legislation to force breweries to cut back on their tied houses, there developed a number of chains of pubs not owned by breweries, but whose managers aren't exactly independent either. But I'm not sure many of the paying public have caught up with that, so the "Free House" sign is quite a good marketing ploy still.

You obviously have not had the pleasure of meeting the famous Scottish midge,
We older Britons have noticed that there are far fewer flies around these days. I can remember when they would get squashed on the car. Nobody really knows why it is, possibly modern farming practices. It seems to be having an effect on bird populations, which is a pity.

Hey I got DH to give me ONE picture. I love this one (hope the tinyurl thing works) - saw the statue from the front and it didn't occur to me the potential from the back.
I have to give a BIG SHOUT out to Photo Walks of London for showing DH these kinds of angles!

stu, thats probably all I'll be able to get from DH. He just doesn't have time/inclination to go public with his work. Really doesn't have time.

Say, that's some pic, Feldie...great framing. Thanks.
We'll just forego the Cotswold pix that I snapped last spring... which might have reminded you of many of the places you enjoyed therein. No importa.
Keep on traveling...no need of you to ever work quite as hard as you did on this last trip. wow! Cool it a bit and you'll do just as well with equal results. Honest.

(1) Thanks, framing was easy - cropped by DH - REAL credit goes to Ian at Photo Walks of London as we had walked around that area the day before, but HE pointed out that particular angle. And so it went the rest of the day, great shots that DH would have missed! I still haven't seen all his photos, LOL.
(2) I put in the watermarks to discourage theft. Had a bad experience before, and have heard horror stories of friend's photos being right clicked and copied to sites I won't mention. I used picmarkr.com since I didn't know how to use Picasa's watermarking. Of course any one is free to take their own photos of that particular angle, its a public park.

Feldie, your trip report is fantastic. You clearly put a ton of planning into your trip and it sounds like you had a great time. Thank you for all the ideas that will help so many plan future trips!!
