One night in Porto, two in Lisbon
Hi. We are doing a Spain/Portugal road trip, and I have the Spain part figured out. In Portugal, we're staying one night in Porto and two in Lisbon, which I know isn't enough in either place. We are the types who like to just walk, walk, walk, although while in Lisbon, I know we need to go to Sintra.
So these are my questions:
What part of Porto would be best for a one-night stay?
What part of Lisbon would be best for a two-night stay?
What is the best way to go from Lisbon to Sintra for a day trip? We will have a car, but driving in European cities is pretty stressful, so it might be better to take public transit.
Thank you for any help!

You know, I was travelling to Italy this summer and didn't know anything about accomodation, transport, places to see. I decided to hire a private guide and now I don't regret about money I have wasted on it.

In Porto, I'd stay out on the coast in Foz at 4Rooms (www.4rooms.org), if they have availability (there are only 4 rooms). There is parking nearby.
In Lisbon, you might want to check out the hotels in the Heritage Group, like the Lisboa Plaza. You catch the train to Sintra from Rossio station.
Too bad you have a car, otherwise you could simply take the train from Porto to Lisbon and avoid driving in either city.

Are you sure? Or are you on a different page? That's not how I interpret the question.
"What part of Porto would be best for a one-night stay?"
"What part of Lisbon would be best for a two-night stay?"

Robert - this thread is a week old. Francoise topped it to say something about Italy. There is also another thread with the exact title. The OP has decided to stay in Lisbon or environs. So I am on a different page - the most recent thread page. The other thread begins:
"We have abandoned our plan for one night in Porto and two in Lisbon and now plan to stay three nights in Lisbon."
