One night in Paris-Which Restaurant?
I had dinner there a couple of weeks ago because of the articles I had read about it. It wasn't a complete disappointment, but I won't go there again because there are much better restaurants in Paris. My favorite is La Rôtisserie d'en Face, owned by Jacques Cagna. It is at 2, rue Christine, in the 6th. Telephone 01.43.26.40.98. On the menu, you have 6-8 choices for the entrée, probably 10 choices for the main course, and about 6 choices for the dessert. The price is 230 FF without drinks. I have taken many people there, and all have thought it the best they had in Paris (for that price, that is). Odéon, Mabillon, Saint-Germain des Prés , and Saint-Michel métro stations are closest. If you want to eat in the 7th, I think the Ferme Saint-Simon at 6 rue Saint-Simon is quite good. Telephone 01.45.48.35.74. Bon appétit!

Dear Donna:
There are too many good restaurants in Paris for me to make a single suggestion. However, if you have the time and strength, it would be worth it for you to have a drink either before or after at Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower. Great view of Paris and you avoid having to wait on long lines to go to the top.

Hi Donna-
My wife and I stayed in the 7th last year-try the chocolatier JP Hevin. I can't remember the street, but it's a main road. If you go to the head of rue cler where the post office is, it's about blocks off to your left (if the post office is on your right) towards the Invalides.
We really liked eating at Le Maupertu (so much so that our address is named after it). It's on Blvd. Latour-Maubourg, right near rue Cler. Small, quiet, great food, warm decor, a very nice experience, and not too pricey. If you get lucky, you can have a view of the illuminated dome of the Invalides.
Bon voyage
Marc

PS Donna-
I just noticed you don't mind going further afield. We really loved Pile ou Face (52-bis rue Notre Dame des Victoires), where we had a great birthday meal, very cozy.
Also, everybody I've spoken with raves about Arpege, as do all the writers, Zagat, etc. You might want to check out "The food lover's guide to Paris" by Patricia Wells-it's full of great tips.
