One night in Como

We are three adults passing thru Como on the way to Malpensa airport after three days on the lake at Varenna. We don't necessarily need waterview for one night. Are there any recommenations for moderate priced good locations?

A simple hotel is Hotel Marcos - http://www.hotelmarcos.it/index.htm It is near the foot of the funicular on the lake and is about 300 yards from the ferry and about 150 yards from the Como Lago station which is the one you would take to get to Malpensa.

I've stayed at the Albergo Firenze a couple of times, and been very pleased. Breakfast is also very good.

Hotel Marcos is fully booked. We would like another recommendation for a one night hotel in Como. We are moving from Varenna to Como because we need to rent a car to drive to Malpensa Airport to drop off one of our travelling companions. Then we are driving to Bologna and from there touring Tuscany.

I stayed here for one night in October:

It is very nice, and well located. We booked a twin but ended up with a little apartment with a double bed and a bunk bed.

I've stayed at Hotel Plinius - very nice, good location in the centre, very good restaurant. http://www.hotelplinius.com/hotel.php?lang=eng

I've also stayed at the Barchetta Excelsior - at lakefront, large international-style hotel, good location, has a garage. http://www.hotelbarchetta.it/
