One month somewhere to write a novel. Where and when would you go?

A very abstract question but if you had to move somewhere for a month to write a novel, essay or just to do some work you can do remotely.

Where would *you* go and when?

Springtime anywhere in the Peloponnese, Greece. A special place at a very special time of the year.

I would go somewhere scenic and quiet. Perhaps rent a small apartment or villa in a small town in Tuscany or Umbria or maybe the south of France.

I would rent an apartment in the Montmartre area of Paris, in one of the shoulder or winter months. Live among like minds and use the ghosts of the area as your muse.

If you're doing any kind of work it would need to be somewhere without distractions. So not anywhere one would choose to go to in other circumstances.

A small apartment with a view of the Grand Canal in Venice. Or a small apartment in the Left Bank of Paris.

Ahhh...the mountains--the Alps, Rockies, Sierras, Cascades or others I have not seen yet. Late spring. I'd want a small town like Mittenwald or Murren. I'd live in a small cottage or cabin. Enough access to food and necessities. Enough isolation to work. The quiet and beauty of nature. Can I go now?

Much as I like Greece, it's much to nice to work in.

I'd find a nice cottage somewhere on the Atlantic, with great views over the ocean, near a good pub and a good shop, with Broadband link.

It WOULD BE Venice-it has been reliably demonstrated throughout the centuries, that some of the greatest writers and composers who ever lived on this earth composed and wrote some of their greatest works in this city.

I'd go to one of the islands in Scotland and rent a cottage (I'm thinking Skye because I know it), such beautiful scenery. You can be as sociable or not as you please. You could stay near an inn and local shop for interaction and essentials. You would also have access to many wonderful walks/hikes which may even give inspiration.

Another plus: if you go in winter, the weather would perhaps ensure that you stayed inside and completed your novel/essay

One month to write a novel? Oh my gawd...my husband just took a 6 month sabbatical and the book is only 70% completed.
Husband worked here in New Jersey, lakeside.....but he would also love to work on a book in Mendocino.
Me? Venice!!! Or if I wanted to feel more secluded...Belenheim in Alsace.

Does my trip report count? I'm doing that in my dining room, and it seems to be taking a month.

I would go to one of Scotland's castles (have been to so many!) when it is overcast and cool and atmospheric. My choice would be to go in April when Spring things are blooming.

LOL Nikki!

I would want to be somewhere high..but with very few buildings around..maybe a cliff by an ocean and where I could take long walks and just gaze out at the natural surroundings..Cornwall sounds good, Italy does too.. soothing yet inspiring .. Usually, my best writing time is in the am..if it flows, then it doesn't matter where I am
