My daughter and I will have one night in Rome together at the end of three weeks in Umbria (for me) and two weeks in France and Italy (for her) this July.

We're staying at the Trilussa Palace Hotel and want to have a memorable last supper together in Rome, preferably in the Trastevere neighborhood, walkable to the hotel, as it will have been a very special and difficult-to-arrange vacation for just the two of us...

Anyone have any great suggestions? Franco? I'm an omnivore, but my daughter, while an adventurous eater who loves foreign foods and especially Italian cuisine, doesn't eat much meat or seafood (I know that's not a problem generally speaking, but we're not looking for recommendations for seafood restaurants or places that only do grilled meats).

We enjoyed Al Fontanone.
It's just across the Ponte Sisto, near Piazza Trilussa. We had a nice dinner there, and the staff is very friendly.

Spirito di Vino is the best. It is located in a building that was a Jewish synogogue for centuries.

Anyone need a proof of my total lack of discipline? Here it is: I'm browsing Fodor's, just again, instead of working (but after all, today is good old Europe's Labour Day, so I may at least make it a semi-holiday...).
StCirq - if you check my "favourite Roman food" thread http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34792415, you'll find all my recommendations; and among them, Le Mani in Pasta, as mentioned there, is in Trastevere, btw immediately neighbouring Spirito di Vino; and Sora Lella is two minutes away, on the Tiber island. Of course, any of them is quite a walk from P.za Trilussa, but a pleasant walk, crossing the most beautiful part of Trastevere.
Sorry that I have to protest other people's recommendations, but as beautiful as Spirito di Vino seems to be (I remember passing by, it's really near to Le Mani in Pasta, just across the street from my favourite Roman apartment rental), its entirely creative kitchen bears not the faintest resemblance with the Roman kitchen, and if I had only one dinner in Rome, I'd certainly choose a more typical place (all the more being always hesitant as far as creative kitchen in Italy, 95 percent of which are abominable; and even more hesitant in this particular case because the owners of that apartment, who are actually living next door from Spirito di Vino, didn't recommend it, though they did recommend Le Mani in Pasta, the neighbour). And if it were a special occasion like yours, StCirq, I'd certainly choose a place as memorable and famous as Sora Lella.

We'll be staying in an apt. in Trastevere for a week this June. I'll try to hit a few of the recommendations here. If I get net access while in Tuscany at our friends house, I'll see if I can report back.

Ah, Franco, I'm so glad you showed up on this thread. Exactly what I was hoping for. I've printed this out as well as your Rome thread and will make plans to dine at Sora Lella on our one night in Rome.

StCirq - just exchanging thoughts about restaurants in Rome with ekscrunchy, I remembered this thread. I guess you owe us a report about Sora Lella; since the NY Times (if my memory is correct) has criticized it harshly a few months ago, I'd be really curious about your experience!
