Oktoberfest

Also, how do I reserve a spot in a tent for Oktoberfest in Munich? Every site I go to is in German and I only speak English.

This is the link to the list of all tents.

http://www.oktoberfest.de/de/03/

Click on a tent and it'll take you to a page for each tent. There you'll see a link to that co's Oktoberfest website. Some have english pages, some only German.

Reservation is German is Reservierung, so if you see that word it's the link you want to follow. Hofbrau has an english page

J62 - I clicked on the link to the Hofbrau Festzelt and it looks like my only chance for a spot is on Sunday afternoon in something called the "Boxes". Do you know what that is?

Also, it says I must purchase vouchers per seat: 2 litres bier and 1/2 grilled chicken and an extra voucher in the amount of 7.50 euros. Does this mean that each one of the 4 of us has to drink 2 liters of beer and eat 1/2 chicken? Seems like a bit much.

Thanks.

No, I don't know about the different seats.

You are going to Oktoberfest - If all you have is 2l beer and 1/2 chicken you'll be the most sober person there. It's not a tea sippers party.

Plus, I printed out the reservations form and under "persons" it has in small print "At least 10". Since there are only 4 of us does that mean we are out of luck?

It's not the beer I'm worried about. It's the 1/2 chicken! Ha.

Yes, reservations are only possible for an entire table (10 people), not for single persons.

The recommendation is to come early - many people come at 11 and stay until 5-6 pm to avoid the worst crowds.

Altamiro - thanks for the advice. I guess we'll just have to show up early and hope we get in a tent!
