Yes sounds like a sweet trip for sure - well done on experiencing a type of NL few tourists ever take time to do.
Dutch regional trains are way way different than cosmopolitan Amsterdam - two differ worlds and to me both are great. Pity the folks that only see Amsterdam and then say they saw The Netherlands!
