Off to England and Scotland at last
Well, folks, the great moment has arrived
Tomorrow I fly out for the UK. After seven months of planning, the time has come to see if it all comes together.
Thank you to all my friends here on the Fodors forum. Your kind help has been invaluable in planning this trip. When I get back I will let you know how it went![Imported](https://www.fodors.com/community/images/smilies/imported/smiley.gif)

All the best Yelpir! I came on to wish you bon voyage and see I missed your post by a day! Sorry about that!
I leave for Edinburgh myself in four days (5th Sept), so am extremely excited to know I am finally going to see so much of Scotland with my own eyes! My bags are nearly packed.
I wish you and your friend the loveliest of holidays.
Faith

Hi All and thanks for the kind words ![Imported](https://www.fodors.com/community/images/smilies/imported/smiley.gif)
The part of the trip that involves visiting family in Surrey is almost over. Monday sees us setting out for the Lake District. This week with my daughter and her family has been memorable (the first time I have ever seen my youngest granddaughter)![Imported](https://www.fodors.com/community/images/smilies/imported/smiley.gif)
The day I arrived (last Saturday) was hot and summery. It has been all down hill from there. Today is cold, wet and dark. I am hoping that the weather will clear by Monday and will give us a couple of sunny days in the Lakes followed by some glorious days in Scotland.
I will post again on my return. Keep well, and to those who are also setting out on the great journey to the highlands, Bon Voyage!!

Patience, my dear, patience! ![Imported](https://www.fodors.com/community/images/smilies/imported/wink.gif)
I have been back just over a week and am trying to do everything at once. I am sorting and editing my photographs, processing my video and writing the trip report. So far I have written the first four days and was intending to post the whole thing in one shot. Perhaps I should consider posting it day by day as I go along. As I write each day I have to ship it off to Patricia for her comments (two memories are better than one
)
Don't worry, it's coming, it's coming

A vote for posting it as it comes--perhaps on new thread titled Trip Report-England&scotland.
sounds as if you have had some wonderful days. It gave me the shivers to think of you seeing your granddaughter for the first time. What an experience!

I have started posting my trip report under the heading "Trip Report - The Lake District and Scotland".
Unfortunately, the sorting function on the forum seems to have broken down so the trip report does not appear if you search on United Kingdom or Scotland.
If you want to read the trip report I suggest that you click on my name and then select it from the list of my posts.
